NFT: Knicks chat: 19-18, all star break 5th seed

nygiants16 : 3/5/2021 10:16 am
Well anyone actually thoight the Knicks would be in this spot halfway through? nope

Second half starts with a tough 4 game trip and ends with a tough 6 game west coast trip, but in between the Knicks are playing a bunch of games with the teams right above and right below the Knicks in the standings. Knicks are going to have to win a lot of those games.

Do the Knicks make a move to improve the rostet or do they ride it out? i would be shocked if they didnt make a move, not a blockbuster, but another incremental move like the Rose deal.

Does Frank somehow get into the rotation? Who does he take out? I know everyone wants him to take over for Bullock, the way Frank has been shooting i could see it..

As much as I'm not a fan, I would second nygiants16...if I could get KAT without giving up RJ/IQ, I would do that in a second.

KAT seems like a good dude & I feel absolutely terrible for what he's dealt with these past 12 months. I believe he's lost something like 7 family members-including his mother-to COVID. Isn't he from Jersey? Would be a homecoming of sorts too. He's also super young. He's just gotta up his defense significantly.
KAT
DanMetroMan : 3/5/2021 12:38 pm : link
doesn't have the quickest of feet, so that surely impacts his defense, and he sucked with Thibs (defensively) so I don't know that there is much that can be done regarding his defense but at the right price he'd be a big-time addition. 25 years old, big-time production, born and raised in NJ. I'd be beyond pissed if Riley landed him for Tyler Herro and scraps.
Could you see the Knicks signing a C?
Anakim : 3/5/2021 12:43 pm : link
Drummond, Cousins, maybe even Griffin (granted he's more of a PF)?
Noel and Mitch are a perfect compliment
Earl the goat : 3/5/2021 12:51 pm : link
To each other. Trading for Kat would backfire I believe
I’d rather go get Zack Obi. Knox. Elgrid and draft picks

If more depth at center is needed I’d love to see them get Bamba
I think any of these buyout guys...
Italianju : 3/5/2021 12:53 pm : link
will ring chase. At least one ends up in BKN im sure. Drummond being that he will still get a descent new deal newt year will probably factor in more stuff like minutes and fit then Blake or cousins at this point.

For the record Drummond is the only one id want. Wouldnt hate cousins, but not thrilled. No interest in Blake, just didnt fit.

Mark Stein says both LA teams, Nets, Warriors, & Heat have all shown interest in Griffin.

Shams Charania
@ShamsCharania

The Brooklyn Nets are believed to be leaders to sign six-time All-Star Blake Griffin, sources tell me and
@JLEdwardsIII
. Rival teams with interest are expecting Griffin to choose Nets as a title favorite for chance to win a championship.
With the emergence of Claxton
nygiants16 : 3/5/2021 1:06 pm : link
you would think thr Nets would be more interested in Griffin than Drummond
Unless the Lakers have some countermoves
bceagle05 : 3/5/2021 1:11 pm : link
the Nets are the pretty clear favorites for the title - Harris, Brown, Claxton, Griffin, Jordan, Shamet, etc. is more than enough of a supporting cast for KD, Harden and Kyrie.
...
SFGFNCGiantsFan : 3/5/2021 1:13 pm : link
A lot hinges on AD's health. If he isn't 100%, I don't think the Lakers are the favorites.
Yeah, the Clippers and Utah are threats to the Lakers
bceagle05 : 3/5/2021 1:19 pm : link
and could give the Nets a tough time, but the Nets are just stacked.
There is only 2 teams in the east who i think
nygiants16 : 3/5/2021 1:20 pm : link
could give the Nets trouble..

The Sixers because they are big, play defense and have the better coach

The heat if they get healthy, they are athletic, have good defenders, Butler is clutch and they have a better coach..
I was going to try to do a trade for Zach LaVine,
Jan in DC : 3/5/2021 1:32 pm : link
but ESPN's trade machine doesn't even list him on the Bulls.

I know they're at a point where they have to make a decision on Markkanen. Wonder if there's a trade there to get both of them.

Hard to believe he's available in a rebuilding type trade, honestly.
Beal
DanMetroMan : 3/5/2021 1:51 pm : link
again stated he wants to remain with the Wizards and that he and Lillard have discussed this topic often.

“Those conversations were great. … We always say, it’s always easy to jump on the other side with two, three other guys who are really good, but at the same time, that grass isn’t always greener,” Beal said. “We’ve seen that. History has shown that.”

The Wizards have given him some say on the roster

“That’s kinda unicorn-type shit,” he said. “Not many guys could say who they want on their team. Not many guys have the opportunity to have the team built around them. So, you can’t just overlook those things.”
I would love for Beal and Lillard to lead this revolution.
bceagle05 : 3/5/2021 2:05 pm : link
I feel like Giannis is the key though - if he turns around and demands a trade in a year or two, we're probaby looking at another generation of superstars teaming up.
If Beal wants to stay in that basketball wasteland, he can
Ten Ton Hammer : 3/5/2021 2:17 pm : link
But watch him run to Miami when he actually does get sick of it. And he will.

I was listening to the cowherd show about a month ago and Joy Taylor made a great point, some players jist dont care about championships and their legacy, they are happy in the city they are in and dont want to leave
Griffin
TyreeHelmet : 3/5/2021 2:26 pm : link
Expected to sign in Brooklyn. Does that even help them? Its no risk for Brooklyn I just don't see him playing a major role come playoff time.
is Beal eligible for an extension any time soon?
Enzo : 3/5/2021 2:31 pm : link
If so, he can very easily commit to Washington beyond his current deal.

She is right, of course. If he's happy there then bless him. Ray Allen didn't start chasing rings until his mid-30s either.

The Athletic had a good article on Dame & Beal choosing to stick with the teams that drafted them, that they want to build winners there.

I think Blake is all but done so I don't think this is a major add, but the Nets...it's championship or bust with this group.

They need bigs, but they need defenders, athletic wings..

They'll add pieces. I don't Brooklyn is done yet. As much as I don't like/his game, Harden has been sensational for them.

Yeah Harden has been fantastic and Irving is better when he just has to go out and score..

I dont know what they can do trade wise but maybe add 1 more on the buyout market
