A series of questions for you fellow Knicks sufferers-turned-semi-optimists.
* What would you give up for Zach LaVine? What's realistic? Give me your player/picks combo that you think could (a) work, and (b) wouldn't be going in reverse.
* While the Knicks are currently the #5 seed, would LaVine's arrival (a) work with the chemistry that currently seems very good? (b) maybe more important, work with Randall and how he's evolved his game?
* In your scenario for bringing him in, it's still a young team overall. Assuming you're sending a handful of players packing, are there any vets you might try to bring in economically?
Next year all bets are off because the Bulls are cheap.

This. Bulls should be building around LaVine. Trading him would be absurdly stupid. Their vets such as Young, Porter, or Temple may be available, as could Carter and/or Markkanen.
Sorry ... at work and just saw the game thread from last night.
Someone posted this on a recent game thread, don't recall who so can't cite the source, but looking at the Utah Jazz this season and in recent years, would love to keep our picks and see what Walt Perrin and our front office can do with them. Rather than empty the tank for one guy, unless we have 100% confidence it's an elite player who wants to be a Knick long term
He's only broke double digit points twice. He'll need to change gears quite a bit to show off.
I agree with this - don't empty the tank for one guy. Right now there is no "elite player who wants to be a Knick long term," so why waste brain cells thinking about it. I expect a trade before the deadline but a relatively minor one.
I’m still holding on to the slight hope that Leonard does something crazy again like leave the clips for msg. Exercise that player option there Kawhi...
Makes a lot of sense!

be great for Obi to play enough that he becomes a tradable asset. Don't see any way he and Randle are ever viable together on the court at the same time.

Obi is going to turn out to be a wasted pick.
Randle is just hitting his prime and unless he wants to hit Free agency I can see how Toppin gets more then 10-12 minutes a game from here out.
He will be part of a package for an all-star in the next couple years so don't get too attached.
BTW Lavine is not going anywhere and even if he is it would take way more than the Knicks should be willing to give up.
RJ will be an all-star be 26, build around RJ, Randle, and Quickley.
Add pieces with the draft picks we have and I think we can get a FA to join in the next couple of years.
Future is bright if the front office has patience

Do you think they could put together a package for Lonzo keeping that core in tact? Seems like a distributing PG who can shoot is the biggest need on this team. Is the draft the only way to find that in the near future?
The players from the Harden trade are not allowed to be traded..

I think you will get Lonzo on the cheap.
Playoff teams are not going to look at him as a player to put you over the top, he has no playoff experience and is bench depth.
Probably not a big market for him on his own unless packaged in a bigger deal.
I could see a 2nd and Knox or another player with potential and under contract for more than this year.
Also might be able to get JJ and Lonzo.
For Rivers, Knox, and a second or 2.
If I am the Knicks I am talking to NO.
Reddick would be a good fit for a Playoff run
