Per schefter "Chargers are actively shopping former Pro-Bowl guard Trai Turner, per source. It looks like he will be traded or released in the near future. He’s due $11.5 million this season."
was to make 11 mil real easy to structure a 3 year contract and give him 11 mil and let the cap number be around 4 using a bonus on a 3 or 4 year contract
are a luxury, notice it's one of the first positions on the block. Good spots to go young and cost-effective.
^This. Teams are calling each other to try and unload their expensive players and finding no takers. That is especially true for guards. A lot of these players will have to take massive pay cuts to play in the fall.
its really hard to have a lot of guys at $10 million, considering you need 22+3 starters. You basically need to have half of your starters on rookie deals (or more if you have a QB sucking up over $20 million).
This could be a bloodbath for quality players in less important positions who simply have too much of the pro rata salary cap.
He made a stud the 5 years before that. Maybe the injury was why he was not good last year. But he's only 27, no doubt he can bounce back
Surely that's possible. Panthers dealt him because he wasn't very good in his past few seasons. He has a $11.5m deal right now and he'll be cut. Maybe sign for vet min and see how he shakes loose.

I mean he was a Pro Bowler when they traded him and it was for another pro bowler Russell Okung not like a 6th round draft pick.
at his current salary. No team is paying him $12M next year, and neither will we. I suspect they will try to extend him and reduce his 2021 cap hit, or release him outright.
RE: This is more evidence that the Giants can't possibly keep Zeitler

Agree. And I think with all the cuts already he'd be smart to take a paycut and extension.

Buyer be wary.

I agree that this is the tip of the iceberg with recognizable releases.
Agreed at that 11+ price tag, not worth it.
Zeitler same thing but don't want to stir up drama on a Friday night!

Do you think Zeitler will be cut? (I assume they won't be able to trade him.) And if so, what is their plan at guard? What would you do?
