Gerrit Cole said the new 2021 baseballs already are in use and he’s noticed more consistency with the seams and construction overall. Didn’t speak to the bounciness, but thinks the feel is much better. #Yankees

Upcoming Mets starting pitchers:

* Sunday vs. Marlins: Marcus Stroman
* Monday @ Nationals: Jordan Yamamoto
* Tuesday vs. Cardinals: Taijuan Walker (!)

That will be Taijuan Walker's exhibition debut with the Mets.

I can dream of that line-up. If only our hare-brained commish would have moved on the universal DH. He keeps that cockamamie rule about relievers facing 3 batters minimum....and won't push forward the DH.

Dom with a MOON SHOT

Haha. Awesome. 3-0
Has a decision been made yet in the NL as to the DH for this season?
steve in ky : 3/6/2021 2:17 pm : link
I sure hope the go back to the traditional game of all players having to bat. I just can’t get into the DH at all.
DH

No DH this year
7 inning double headers
10th inning starts with runner on 2nd base

Thanks

Glad about the DH, don’t really care for the other changes.

In 2018, NL Pitchers batted .115/.144/.148 over 5,135 plate appearances. It didn't get any better in 2019.

Speaking for myself....I'd rather watch a professional hitter take those plate appearances. If you love the bunt play....I'm sure your new 9th place hitter is better at it than your pitcher.
There is like zero to complain about in this one
ZGiants98 : 3/6/2021 3:22 pm : link
deGrom and Diaz looking great. Alonso red hot and not over swinging. McCann and Pillar, two players being underrated imo looking great. The prospect kids coming in and performing...

Just glorious.

Pete Crow booking right out of the box !! He's around first base before the ball lands.......Giddy up.
I do not think DH has been decided officially
Vanzetti : 3/6/2021 4:17 pm : link
MLB wants it and players Union won’t agree unless they get other concessions.

So it is a stalemate and the DH cannot ge instituted with players approval

The DH thus appears to be a dead letter but it has not been officially ruled out

At least that’s my understanding. Maybe somebody who is following it more closely has more up to date info

I like the 3 batter minimum. Teams can't load up their bullpen with specialists and it forces teams to be strategic with their pitching decisions and does speed up the game. Now if only they would stop turning the regular season into Spring Training with replacing a pitcher after he has gone through the order twice that would be appreciated.
