for two reasons. One is for being part of the filming of the Hot Rock in front of my house (across the street from the Brooklyn Museum), and bringing movie reality into my life; and Two is a chance meeting I had with him in the Central Park Zoo when I was able to personally thank him for it and thank him for doing honor to the Segal's as well. I was an Urban Park Ranger and wearing my uniform and name tag at the time. Those of you who know me will be able to discern the significance of this, but he was totally gracious and awesome at the time.
Had many notable performances in both comedy and drama. Personal favorites of mine include Bridge at Remagen, King Rat, Flirting With Disaster, and his work on Just Shoot Me.

Bill there are at least 7 way to spell it thanks to the immigration officers on Ellis Island -- mostly we all originated from the same area of the Ukraine/Russia

I get it. My last name comes from characters so there are a number of spelling variations as well.
The other one is a little less known, Rollercoaster.
I probably watched that movie 100x when cable TV first came out..........
Fun with Dick and Jane is what I remember him for. Loved that movie when I was a kid...it was one of those movies that always seemed to be on HBO when it came out.
My fave was the Flamingo Kid, when he plays a bullshit artist and card cheat who Matt Dillon gravitates to.
You're right Greg, all the greats are passing, but at least it's from old age and not some horrible tragedy. And most of them were prolific well into their older years.
RE: he was in so many great movies and shows. great character

Are you sure that was him in that roll. It’s probably been like 30 years since I’ve seen it but I’m picturing someone else. I remember Wayne Gretzky’s wife played the character’s hot daughter
Started opposite a very young Denzel and though cheesy and somewhat racist (if memory serves; I saw it on VHS in the early 90s) it addressed racism, income equality and other “woke” issues not often addressed at the time. And definitely funny in parts. Worth revisiting imho. Carbon copy - ( New Window )

I believe Richard Crenna played that guy in Flamingo Kid, not George Segal.
RE: Segal was in two of my favorite movies as a kid..
Most people do know him from Rambo, but he was hilarious playing the asshole in a silly '80s comedy, one of John Candy's lesser known movies - Summer Rental.

YES! ate the last lobster before a starving John Candy!
You got my table, you're not gonna get my lobsters!
Richard Crenna. Sadly, he's probably been gone for 15 years or more at this point.
Very good actor. Known in later years for the Rambo movies
Do you remember a short-lived sitcom in which Richard Crenna played a conservative Washington-based columnist with a hippyish photographer girlfriend played by Bernadette Peters? It was in the late 60s/early 70s
that, but I would've either been not yet conceived or in a playpen.
😂 Right. For some reason I thought we were closer in age. And on second thought it might have been more like mid or even late 70s. BP was super cute, I remember that

Ah that’s a bummer. Still great, even into his 80s, on The Goldbergs.

Hard to find for much of the time since its release in 1974, but a restored version made it to Amazon Prime in 2020 and it's also available on tubitv.
Saw it for the first time recently and enjoyed.

Fun With Dick and Jane was my favorite of his movies. The other one was California Split with him and Elliot Gould.

I was in 8th grade when this debuted. Lates 70s. Funny how time warps as we age...
