NFT: Knicks @ Bucks 8PM

Kev in Cali : 3/27/2021 7:06 pm
Line opened Knicks -11, now is Knicks +2

MIL: Giannis, Middleton, Holiday, Portis, Tucker OUT

NYN: Lots of GTD's and not sure how the lineup will go.

DO they match scrubs and give starters a rest??? I have no idea how to approach this game.

Knicks above .500 still by a game....I think we need to slam dunk this one with our bench and give some guys a rest.

Would love to see IQ, Burks, RJ run the point (though his TO's could hurt), Robinson and Taj getting the most playing time.

Randle needs a break...

GO Knicks!!!! GO RJ!!!

I agree. You can't give Robinson big dollars. He should have been dealt at the deadline, assuming there was a deal out. I don't know that there was.
The reason not to give Mitch big
Jon in NYC : 3/27/2021 8:58 pm : link
dollars has little to do with his injury and everything to do with his ceiling being basically a souped up version of Nerlens Noel. NBA starter quality, sure, but I don't think he's a true difference maker.
RJ is so crafty

Jon in NYC : 3/27/2021 9:04 pm : link
but apparently the Knicks can choose to decline his 1.8 mil option next year and make him an RFA. That...is interesting? Can't see a team giving him a massive contract, could be a discounted way to lock him up long term at a reasonable rate.

Nuggets did the same thing with Jokic, made him an RFA and they resigned him
I think the knicks should offer Drummond
Giantfan21 : 3/27/2021 9:10 pm : link
somewhere in the $7M ballpark which is far more then any other team can offer, plus the starting job and use the rest of the season as a trial to see how he fits in next to Randle and the rest of the team.

It's a win/win for the knicks and Drummond since he is able to come here and get more money plus get a big rile to also play for his next contract

Yeah that's a great question. I mean I'd consider even 3 years, 45 mil with 3rd year as a team option. If he plays well he's definitely a 15 Mil a year player, if he doesnt play well this season he's a 1 year 15 mil expiring that's easily tradable.

Even with that the Knicks will have a ton of cap space next offseason and that should help their flexibility re: Mitch

No other team can offer him anything more then the Vet minimum which is around $1M other then the Nets who are out on him after getting Aldridge.

Knicks have $15M in cap space so technically they can offer it all to him but i rather they split it and give half to him and half to another buyout player that might become available in the next 2 weeks

where he will get playing time to show off his skill going into free agency. He'll get a ton of minutes in LA with AD at the 4 when he comes back, so I would imagine his agent will encourage him to go there.

Funny thing, I don't think there's any teams other than the Knicks that are going to have a ton of money going into free agency so... yea.

I want to be on the record and say I don't want him. I'd rather them look for a PG somewhere. Anywhere really, but we really need one.

Now Im confused......

Knicks just lost their starting Center and necer had one who could score regularly. But playing 3rd wheel to BroLon and AD is a better option than being immediately the low post option for the Knicks? What am I missing?

Doesn’t clear waivers until tomorrow afternoon. I think the Knicks should offer him more dough this year. No multi year deal. What’s the number he doesn’t pass up for the Lakers?

Yeah that's a great question. I mean I'd consider even 3 years, 45 mil with 3rd year as a team option. If he plays well he's definitely a 15 Mil a year player, if he doesnt play well this season he's a 1 year 15 mil expiring that's easily tradable.

Even with that the Knicks will have a ton of cap space next offseason and that should help their flexibility re: Mitch

Meh this also might just be a bad idea. Could be better off sticking with Dieng.

This! Dieng fits into Thibs style of play (he already did in Minnesota0. Drummond is not a fit w/Randle. They certainly need another bid,as Noel does incur injuries & Gibson is 35. Dieng is a perfect plug-in for the rest of the season, while Drummond is not. Sometimes the better talent is not the better fit & this is one of those times!

Curious why you think he is not a fit, it cant be because of spacing, because it is no different than Randle playing with Mitch..

Drummond adds another dimension offensively, defensively will be the question, if he is engaged he can be a very good defender

Probabky going to end up being Dieng if i had to guess
Last night seemed
nygiants16 : 3/28/2021 9:39 am : link
like the start of the phasing oit of Payton, played 6 minutes in the first and 7 in the 3rd and that was it..

I hope once Rose is fully back he is the starter with Quick off the bench
I wonder if they make a move for Teague.
robbieballs2003 : 3/28/2021 10:07 am : link
I admit to not have seem him lately. From what I read his play fell off this year but I also read that he used to be a good defender. Therefore I'd be willing to give him a shot over Payton.

I don't think Rose will be able to handle big minutes over an extended period of time. If you want to do that for the playoff run then by all means go for it. I just think you are asking for trouble doing that now.

Actually,it's a huge difference between Mitch & Drummond(and I like Drummond!). Mitch is a defensive presence that blocks shots, who is a garbage man offensively, with nothing run specifically for him. Drummond is an offensive center, not a shot blocker, who sets up in the same areas as Randle.Yes,Drummond is an excellent rebounder, but rebounds aren't a Knicks problem. Only way he's coming to the Knicks is if they make a monetary commitment & I,personally, don't see Drummond as the center on a Thibs coached team!

??????

Randle brings the ball up, does most of his work facing the basket, usually starting beyond the 3 point line (kind of infuriating honetly sometimes) and then the right elbow when he decides to post. Drummond may like the elbow too but its not as if that will be unavailable to him because Randle is so mobile.

The idea that Randle and Drummond are going to be wanting the same space is pretty out there. Im sure Randle would have no problem keeping his motion/flex game while Drummond took the post. Randle really only gets cooking when he is taking dudes off the dribble.

Depends on health. If LBJ & AD are 100%, the Nets, also @ 100%, are the sole team that can beat them IMO. What I would love-as a Lakers hater-is that, in their superstars absence, the Lakers fall into the play in game & potentially miss the playoffs in it's entirety. Do I see that happening? No, but one can dream.

SFGFNCGiantsFan : 3/28/2021 7:17 pm : link
As much as I'd love the Knicks to make the Finals, I'm realistic. The Finals I think that would really be fun is Nuggets vs. 76ers, Joker vs. Embiid.

Teague because he has played for Thibs before..

Cousins off the bench for 15 to 20 minutes a night wouldnt be terrible, give them a little more scoring off the bench

As long as he knows his role, Boogie that is. You're right-not a bad option off the bench.
Drummond would’ve been a risky signing for the Knicks
Osi Osi Osi OyOyOy : 3/28/2021 7:38 pm : link
Good move to stay away from him imo. He was awful this year and has been a low impact empty stat player for a while.

On a team with LeBron/AD, he might finally understand what it takes to be a winning player and actually try on defense and play smarter offensively. But I don’t think that would’ve happened on the Knicks.

You do know Boogie was cut by the Rockets and has been out of basketball for a reason.
He is a culture killer and plays zero defense.
Teague has nothing left.
Sign to young players to sit at the end of the bench and learn.
