So in the My Giants Mock Draft and the One Month To The draft. First Mock threads, I entertained the idea of trading Evan Engram to either the Texans or the Jets, since different sites indicate said team is in need of a tight end, in exchange for either of their third-round draft picks (66 for the Jets, 67 for the Texans) to draft DE Carlos Basham. Now it came up in each discussion that if that were the case the Giants would have two third round picks; I had assumed the trade would merely involve teams swapping draft picks.
For someone who has better knowledge of draft trades: in theory, would the Giants have two draft picks in the third round or just one, with the team we traded with receiving our pick?

Okay this isn't rocket science. In your original post you said trade Engram for Houston's 3rd round pick. You did not say trade Engram and our third round pick for their third round pick. Big difference. It all comes down to how you use the English language. It has no correlation to having better knowledge of draft trades.

Bingo!
If you include the Giants 3rd round pick with Engram, then they would necessarily need to receive at least Houston's 2nd rounder and maybe a 5th or 6th.
Otherwise Engram and our third for Houston's 3rd would be giving Engram away and throwing away the Giants 3rd rounder..
