I don't think anyone really expected Matt Peart to get much playing time last year. Drafted late in the 3rd Round (#99 overall), about where most pundits predicted he'd go, he was generally viewed as a good developmental prospect, but by no means close to a finished product. A year away (at least) from actually being able to compete for a starting role. Still, a good investment by the Giants.
To his detriment, he did not have the benefit of a full offseason program. No doubt that stunted his development. However, for a variety of reasons he was pressed into service prematurely, appearing in eleven games with one start. To be kind, the reviews were mixed. But, honestly, what else would you have expected? He even had to deal with Covid late in the season. "Sometimes I wonder which side God is on.
I hope there are no lingering effects from his bout with the coronavirus. I'd like to see what he can do at full strength, with a full offseason of preparation under the tutelage of his new position coach. This is one investment the Giants desperately need to pay dividends.
I am hopeful that he will be a good player for the Giants as he played very well especially for someone who was very raw.
Hopefully he takes a big step forward in his development this year after a full offseason getting stronger and improving his technique. Regardless I would still like to see the Giants add another OT in the draft especially if Walker Little falls to the Giants in the 3rd round.
Simply from a perspective of not having to turn to Solder this season at all if Peart can take the next step. But also not having to invest free agent dollars or an early pick on another Offensive Tackle in 2022 would be great. Letting the focus go towards improving the interior part of the line, and just ensuring a relatively cheaper but reliable swing tackle is somewhere on the roster.
Marvelous I agree about Judge wanting to get a successful pipeline and ultimately mostly drafted OL players. I think this a huge part of the Patriot success. They let a lot of lineman leave via FA and have replacements ready or draft more. The best position group to control costs imo.
Now you throwing in the next guys, well, cause their the ones there.
They desperately need multiple draft picks on o line.
2020 he had some pretty good moments, some not so good
got his feet wet for sure
I expect him to progress nicely this yr. gun to my head I think he plays pretty well this yr to set up 2022 maybe him and Solder alternated like judge likes to do Solder probably can help him quiet a bit too
flowers occasionally did but must times I hated how he played for gmen
improved as an OG but I am glad he is gone
you can see Pearts tools and athletism when he plays
1 yr of coaching and weight room before any real judgements should be made
JMHO

He is a dice roll. Nothing more.
Dice roll is hardly an apt term here. A guy picked in Rd. 3 has been well researched, not a name picked out of a hat. Being a bad bet is a possibility, tho
I think they are very fortunate to have 3 players on the roster who can credibly play LT if necessary. Most teams have at best 1 or 2. Just need to figure out the guards.

If you're talking to me, don't. For one thing, you're a liar. For another, you're a douchebag, and I don't debate douchebags, I just heap scorn and ridicule on them. (See the point on top of your head).
George Young brought us the planet theory: There are only just so many big guys out there. You can find the smaller guys all day long but the big guys who can really play are rare. If you have two guys ranked dead even you take the larger of the two; they are harder to find.
I remember 88' & 89' when Young spent his top two picks in each draft on Offensive Lineman. It was only after that that we chose Hampton, Bunch, McCaffrey, Derek Brown, Aaron Pierce, Dave Brown, etc.. ; after we'd reenforce the O-line with T-John Elliot, G/T-Eric Moore, C-Brian Williams, and G-Bob Kratch. LG-William Roberts was drafted as a Tackle in the late 1st round in the 84', RT-Doug Reisenberg stuck as 6th round pick in 87', and USFL standout C-Bart Oates was the only "suburbanite" to stick and start in both the 86' & 90' Super Bowl wins. Oates held of the much bigger and stronger Williams, our 89' 1st round pick for several years until he left to play for San Fran.
I would love for Gettleman to spend our picks on the Offensive Line and at TE & RB.
I would love for us to trade down, possibly even twice. I want to Target the toughest linemen and two way TEs. Towards the end of the 1st I'd like to draft T/G Teven Jenkins, whom I think is just a nasty dude who can play RT or RG. Then on day two I'd like to maneuver in order to draft TE-Pat Feiermuth, C/G-Landon Dickerson, G/C-Quinn Meinerz, and TE-Hunter Long. On day three of the draft my targets would be NT-Alim McNeill, RB-Rhamondre Stevenson, and DL-Tadarrell Slaton.
This would be a great draft in my book. This would help us become the tough, physical team the coach and GM have been trying to build.
