Rooney with a mind numbingly stupid penalty and the Smith/Hajek pairing is good for a goal against a game. They're getting outworked and the only reason this is not a 5-0 game is Shesterkin. They better wake up soon, still plenty of time.
the ogie oglethorpe's or Carl Racki's of the game definitely add some color, excitement, and emotion to the game.
While I don't like the dirty plays, the thing that would frustrate me about Wilson is he doesn't need the shenanigans. Like Marchand. these guys have skill, but I guess playing with an edge makes some players thrive.
definitely a guy who you can only like when he's on your team, but I like Wilson because the habs rarely play them.
He went after the Rangers' bench after they scored the empty-netter and had to be pulled away by the refs. He was given 2 minutes for unsportsmanlike conduct and a 10-minute misconduct. Just lost his mind.
not much from what I saw, looked like a Rangers player chirped the Capitals bench after the 5th goal and Wilson tried to get after him.
Mostly an overreaction on here IMO.
This cheap shot tonight by McDavid is as bad as anything I've seen Wilson do. Late, elbow, to the head. I doubt the league does anything to McDavid though. link - ( New Window )

To be fair, he was a gigantic asshole in the game way before that happened.
I don't see the Oilers much - does McDavid do that stuff often?
Definitely should be suspended that.
No, not that I have seen but he's frustrated, MTL (in the middle of a mediocre season) and Kotkaniemi (among others) has owned him. In 7 games vs MTL McDavid and Draisatl have combined for 3 pts or something like that. and MTL hasn't lined up Danault against him primarily.

This was really bad.
Wilson does worse when he employs the boards/stanchions
as his helper in inflicting pain. McDavid plays with ferocious speed/intensity, but yeah, that is stepping out for him. And the other shitbag Marchand also on display tonight.
It gets me riled whenever Quinn says the team is 'getting it', or sign of good things to come, as if he's trying to will it. Team is inconsistent as heck, game-to-game and within game. Until that stops, they're chasing from behind.
How long are they going to make Kravtsov sit? Hasn't Quinn had a chance to see him in practice by now?
Michelle Gingras without her mask is very, very appealing.
is if there is a single hockey fan out there who does not believe Adam Fox belongs in the Norris trophy conversation, they don't know the game. The season this kid is having is leaps and bounds better than anything I expected. I thought he'd have some nice growth this year, but this has been a truly remarkable season for Fox. Lindgren holds his own too and doesn't get enough credit. This is going to be one of the league's top pairs for years. Another guy not getting enough credit is one of my early season whipping boys that I'll admit I passed judgment too quickly on, Ryan Strome.
This was a huge win going into a 2 game series with Buffalo where the Rangers can really pick up some steam (though if Buffalo loses tonight, they're going into the Rangers game tomorrow on a 19 game losing streak, on April Fool's Day). 21 games left, usually 96 points gets in which equates to 66 this year. 15-6 down the stretch is what they need to do, and 8 of those 21 are against Buffalo and NJ. This very well could down to those last 2 games in Boston on May 6/8.
effort after the slow start. Bread is pretty good and Igor stood tall....
Standing tall is right: is there a keeper in the league, right now, who manages to shield as much of the net as this little guy? Got to think he is one of if not the smallest goalies in the league.
Did I hear accurately that Fox won NHL Player of the Week last week? Maybe the league is beginning to take notice.
Post-game notes:
Valiquette is a fun listen, good breakdowns, loves Igor
Quinn is so tightly wound, he's got to get over himself; changes up lines in 2nd bec. they were a little stale, then reverted in the 3rd, what a relief
Did I mention before how attractive Michelle Gingras is? (:

Where are the Quinn haters?
One game does not absolve Quinn at all. Quinn was brought to develop young players, and the young players aren't really developing. Add that to the team not winning many games, and I find it weird that a Rangers fan is trying to gloat about Quinn based on one game...
is the least of their problems. The guy is going nowhere as management loves the guy. It's been talked about for quite a while...they need more grit and it's on the FO to make that happen this offseason. They aren't making the playoffs this year but I think it is imperative they make that "jump" next year.

There's no "gloating" rather it's so predictable that the knee jerk fan base gets all worked up and lays the blame at Quinn's feet when they lose but when they win he gets zero credit. It's a clear reflection that there's zero objectivity by a segment of the fan base. See how that works?
He’s kind of in a can’t win situation. If a young player is not developing the way we’d like to see (Lafreniere, Kakko), he gets blamed for it. When one starts really picking up his game (Fox, Buchnevich, Miller), it’s attributed to the player, not necessarily Quinn’s role. Personally, I don’t see him as the long-term solution who will take them to the Cup. I don’t think he’s a bad coach or anything, but the level of inconsistency the team plays with, while likely due to the youth on the roster, should also partially fall on Quinn. The way this team looked in the third period last night, they are capable of beating anyone in this league. It’s just that we will get that level of play for 2-3 games max, sometimes we’ll see it for a period or two before they disappear again.
I don’t know, I’m withholding judgment on Quinn another year (like he or the organization gives a crap what I think), as I don’t think there is another team in the league that has dealt with what Quinn has had to deal with this year (all the COVID issues, DeAngelo, Panarin situation, Zibanejad not showing up until 20 games into the season, playing every game against top level teams with a young roster). Unless they lose something like 17 of their last 21 games, Quinn will be here next year, and I think this team needs to be a playoff team or he’ll be gone at the end of ‘22, if not before.

To add to this, The Devils are only 5 points behind the Rangers. That’s right Ruff has his team right in back of the Rangers

Agreed. I've never proclaimed Quinn as the savior and on his way to be Scotty Bowman but a frustrated fan base loses their objectivity time and again. It takes time for European's to get acclimated to the North American game/ice and when you're a kid it's an even tougher maturation process at the NHL level.
I understand the frustration but let's be honest, the rebuild is not complete and we still have some kids in the pipeline. The future is bright.
Needed that badly

If it was lindgren those two are developing a nice little rivalry.

Fox is a marvel. Considering his play, position, and cost, I think he's the most valuable player in the organization right now. What a player.
