Mike Rizzo says that the person who tested positive is a player and, after contract tracing — having flown on a team charter Monday evening — it was determined that five people had to quarantine. The Nationals have undergone PCR and rapid tests in the time since.
Mike Rizzo says the four players who are currently quarantining are out for Opening Day tomorrow night.
Nats have Covid positive player - (

They sholdn't jump the line just because they get paid millions to play a game.
Weren't they tested? Didn't they find out one had COVID?
In CA, they aren't opening it up until April 15th to the general public. And it's foolish to think there won't be some insane backlog to get vaccinated.
If anyone can afford to isolate and wait until the end to get vaccianted, it's professional atheletes with the bubbles they attempt to create.
MLB has incentivized players to get vaccinated. Can't really do much more than that. Some will choose to not get it, and that is their right.
I'm sure teams will procure vaccines if players qualify in their respective states.
As baseball players are young, a lot of them aren't yet eligible to get vaccinated depending on the states. For instance, FL is 40+ until next week, and the players are just getting back from spring training.

All these leagues should have their athletes getting vaccinated ASAP.

There's no line. Basically everyone is eligible.

That's not true:
-- April 1: Montana, Connecticut
-- April 2: New Hampshire
-- April 5: Michigan, Tennessee, Idaho, Iowa, Florida, Nevada, Wisconsin
-- April 6: New York, Delaware
-- April 7: North Carolina
-- April 9: Missouri
-- April 12: Illinois, Kentucky
-- April 15: California
-- April 19: Maine, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania
-- April 27: Maryland
-- April, no set date: New Mexico, Virginia, Colorado, Wyoming
-- May 1: Oregon, South Dakota, Washington, Nebraska, Hawaii,Alabama, New Jersey
And even if it were true, it is going to take months to get through the backlog. People who can afford to wait becasue their employment minimzies risk (I'm lumping in professional athletes here) should, in theory, wait until the end becasue they can afford to. A 27 year old out of work waiter should ideally be able to get it before an MLB player.

Judge and Alonso would qualify by that standard
That being said my guess is that MLB will get their own supply by May 1st and vax everybody in MLB. Still it will be another month before they have full immunity.

I kinda disagree. It's what, 1,000 or so MLB players that would need to "jump the line"? These guys provide a much needed form of entertainment (now more than ever) for millions upon millions of fans. The amount of money they make is irrelevant. I'd prefer to see these athletes get vaccinated over politicians who feel they are entitled to one, even though most do a job that can be performed over Zoom.
