When our OL is not a strength, give me the guy that can get open faster and better than any WR I've ever seen. He is unguardable in this offense with KG, Shep, Engram, Slayton & Saquon.
we wouldn't even be having this conversation because he would be competing with Ja'Marr Chase as the first WR off the board and almost guaranteed not to fall out of the top 10 of the 2021 draft.
Jaylen Waddle averaged over 21 yards per catch his senior year before he got hurt.
Smith has the work ethic and the route running that I personally covet. I do not like his size and I think it will be an issue near the boundary. He's high cut and has trouble sinking his hips which will limit him in the slot. I think he can be effective at all 3 receiving positions but he'll be most effective at the "Z". But again his route running and work ethic are just two things you don't bet against.
Waddle is much more a freak. He has that rare ability to stop and go without losing a beat. It is just extremely hard to cover players like that. His route running isn't the best but with his speed and acceleration, it doesn't have to be. I think he's strictly a slot.
For me, I would never consider a slot receiver in the top 15 picks.. However, Waddle may just be the exception. On the Giants, he would make it extremely difficult for defenses. Having to account for Barkley is strenuous enough.. Now add a player like Waddle - that's a near nightmarish scenario.
Waddle is so explosive.
With Sheppard and Golladay both missing time last year, I think I’d take Smith. Waddle has higher upside.
But you can't avoid that, so it's Smith.
But if we have to suffer with Smith😉, OK.
Waddle is so explosive.

Waddle is explosive you are correct there.

Smith is so smart and incredibly polished and I love his competitiveness. Reminds me of Marvin Harrison. Just a really low bust factor.
I'd be happy with either, honestly but the safer pick by far is Smith.
Jon I’m curious why you aren’t in favor of Waddle at 11?
