I'm making this an NFT because this is a general question. Recently I read that if we were Eagles fans we'd think Jones sucks. And that got me thinking. Fans of other teams (not even rivals) never care about context or nuance. For example, do Giants fans care that Sam Darnold has played on one of the worst teams in the NFL his entire time in the league? No. We'll likely just look at the stats and record and say that he sucks. But fans, while sometimes inappropriately rationalizing a) have a bigger picture watching all games and b) are much more likely to look at nuance and context. I see this with the Rangers and Kaapo Kakko as well. I think sometimes fans are LESS biased. Also, I guarantee you that Giants fans have a lower opinion of Evan "Pro Bowler" Engram than most non-Giants fans. Not only are fans more accurate, they're more honest.
Perfect. Also the national media and referees and umpires across leagues only hate us
But I see what you mean.....
I am hoping that Daniel Jones turns out to be a franchise QB ...so my hope weighs in his favor. Again, too early to make definitive decision either way...I am not blind but
I feel better about D.Jones chances then Darnold.
and it could be only because I am fan
Plus, a lot of fans are stupid, so there is that delightful phenomenon that you have to consider.
Oh, please forgive me.
I mean, lol.
"Pure trash" is putting it nicely describing the Giants play for the past 6, 7, 8 years.
Yeah I've seen it on every forum I frequent. Usually those who think every move is garbage are disillusioned by years of disappointment though. There's plenty of Cashman detractors for example, because they haven't won a WS since 2009. Some Bruins fans got progressively more upset with their SC winning GM and HC as they failed to make the playoffs and seemed mired in old school hockey.
The sports different, the names are different, but the posts are pretty much the same 😂
Are we more or less biased than any other fan base? I have no idea.
"Yeah, no f'g clue, when I talked about something I read on BBI that Sy said his mouth opened slowly and his eyes glazed over"
I would think fans of other teams view a player like Barkley as a talented guy who can’t stay healthy. They likely view Engram as a guy with talent who plays in a bad offense. They likely view Jones as an average to below average QB.
On BBI, each of those players are viewed at more of the extreme ends of the spectrum (at least by the more voluminous posters). Each is viewed alternatively as a bum who we should trade for a fourth round pick, or as a future all-star once they overcome their flaws.
In many ways, the local beat reporters or national media are usually closer to a reasonable take than fans of the team that let their emotions color their opinions.
