and yeah, talk about a tough task at hand. Following the footsteps of the greatest game show host of all time and with 0 experience, it’s going to sound in natural at first. I’d let him settle in a bit, or just hate him, whatever you want I guess.
full-time host, I wouldn't be too enthusiastic after seeing him. But it was literally his first episode doing anything like that - for a guy who's not an on-camera personality, he was fine.
And his reaction to the final jeopardy troll was pretty good.

I don’t disagree with what you said. However he is not being rated against another athlete with no on air experience. He wants to be the permanent host and as so needs to be scrutinized in relation to those others we have seen .
The producers loved him and were surprised at his level of preparation and interest.
This is what I was getting at in last weeks thread about him. He’s going to be prepared, and his personality fits. He could definitely grow into the role, that’s something that takes time even for on camera professionals that have been doing it for decades (Couric).

Where has he said he wants to be the permanent host?
but as a huge Jeopardy fan, i thought he did a really good job.
the only guest host that I found distracting from the game was Katie Couric. Everyone else has been fine.
I don't know. I wanted to shiv Dr. Oz and watch him have to stitch up the gash on his own.
Still now sure how Oz got away with peddling bogus products on his show. But yeah i'm not a huge fan of his either, i was so happy Couric was done i guess he didnt bother me that much.

which Trebeck did well. Saying the response was right or wrong in a variety of ways. I think the others did that somewhat better. Rodgers response to a wrong answer was always “No” in a rather harsh voice. Little points but skill at stuff like that is what will be part of the evaluation of a permanent host.
Rodgers is a smart guy and did well for someone without experience but he is not ready to replace Trebeck. Others are better especially the producer (who has experience actually hosting some minor guest shows).
I thought Dr. Oz did better although I don’t particularly like him for other reasons concerning pushing things I find conflicting with science.

I didn't realize that. He'd certainly need to improve to be a good choice as the long-term host. But he's a personable guy, I could see him getting there.

They are all so stiff...no personality....
You know who would be a great guest host?...Pat Sajack, never happen of course, but I'd love to see it
Remember when Robin Roberts started out on ESPN? She was terrible - no where near the smooth tv host she is today. She was awful but improved quickly.
