NFT: FTJ left shoulder subluxation

Major bummer as a baseball fan. Debatably the most electric player in the game right now. TBD if he’ll be able to try to rehab and continue playing this season or if it’s bad enough that surgery can’t wait until the offseason.

Preller said the Padres will go the rest-and-rehab route and aim for a return in 10 days.

He’s had this issue since spring training. Usually when rest and rehab are prescribed, it’s wishful thinking and ends up in surgery at some point. Just prolonging the inevitable. Fortunately I’m not a doctor and I hope I’m wrong. It just feels inevitable

I don't know that this is the same issue he's had.

He seemed to dislocated his shoulder from the violent backswing of his whiff. That is such a violent swing, I could see it happening again, even with rehab. I also don't see surgery preventing the same thing. The shoulder is probably the most delicate joint and there is a high chance of re-injury.
