Of the 20 players signed or re-signed by the Giants this offseason, "only" three really received huge deals:
DE Leonard Williams (Re-Signed by Giants; 3-Years, $63 million)
WR Kenny Golladay (Signed by Giants; 4-Years, $72 million)
CB Adoree’ Jackson (Signed by Giants; 3-Years, $39 million)
Four other players received contracts somewhere between minimum-type deals and "big" deals:
NT Austin Johnson (Re-Signed by Giants; 1-Year, $3 million)
RB Devontae Booker (Signed by Giants; 2-Years, $5.5 million)
DL/LB Ifeadi Odenigbo (Signed by Giants; 1-Year, $2.5 million)
TE Kyle Rudolph (Signed by Giants; 2-Years, $12 million)
The other 13 players received 1-year deals ranging from $660,000 to $1,843,750 (see details in link below).
Right or wrong, much of the "fuss" over the Giants spending spree really is about only THREE players. But those three players account for $174 million.

Probably just people piggybacking on the original story by the "unnamed exec", but still....
I wouldn't go quite that far, John Ross, Reggie Ragland, Ryan Anderson, Zach Fulton, and Danny Shelton may be much more than a "scrub"... some of those guys very well could be starters.
Gettleman has blown a bazillion draft picks on CBs, which is why both our starting CBs are FAs. He has also drafted just two skill position players (Barkley and Slayton) in three drafts, so it is no surprise that Jones does not have many weapons. He traded a fourth and a sixth for Ogletree, and used another fourth on Lauletta, who had zero chance of ever succeeding Eli. He constantly trades up, never down.
His FA acquisitions include grossly overpaying for Solder and Stewart. He also signed and then quickly cut Omameh.

I have been a Gettlemen apologist in the past so seeing this haul of free agents makes me happy. I am sure Judge had something to do with it all but there are a few of those one year deal guys that will be a part of the success of this team in 2021. Its like having a bunch of Kavika Mitchell signings IMO.
Golladay was best WR in FA....a true #1 and exactly what they needed.
Now....one can argue being in this position to needing to sign both...but that is really a different argument
Is this for real. It’s the exact opposite. He’s one of the first guys in last guys out. He’s an extremely hard worker. Unfortunately hard work needs to be combined with natural talent and that’s where he falls short. As far as work ethic, he’s right up there among the best on the team. This has been documented by Pat Traina among others
That and it seems like if he isn't involved early, he gets lost in the shuffle.
Yeah, hope it doesn’t turn into a full blown Chuck Knoblach syndrome
I can say its an overpay and still love the deal. A lot of times in FA you have to overpay, and then the next year it looks like a steal of deal....or it looks like Nate Solder contract.
They probably overpaid for the 5 top guys (Rudolph and Booker included among the 5) and tied up an extra $10-15 million by doing that. All okay if it gets them to the playoffs for the next few years with a shot at the Super Bowl.
I really like the next tier of guys as contributors who fit in - not JAGs.
And for the 3 big players signed you can argue ALL are critical for success, all were positions in need (if we had not signed LW we'd have been sorely in need) and all are positions that are important in JJ scheme. The one signing I will be most interested in is our RB Booker. Can he be the backup/blocking & Catching RB we've been missing for a few years?

I don't recall people calling Bradberry a "shutdown" corner until AFTER the 2020 season.
In fact, one of the most common "worry" threads during training camp last year was, "Why is Bradberry getting burned so much in practice?"
This doesn't really jive with JJ's positive comments about Engram. I don't think JJ would tolerate, nevermind comment positively about Engram if he wasn't "working on his craft enough", especially with the horrendous results we saw.

This. I can easily see a few of these one year players getting re-signed on a 2-3 year deal if they play well in 2021. There’s a reason 4 of those 5 players referenced were former 1st and 2nd round picks. Sometimes a change of scenery makes a big difference for a player.

Bradberry (disregarding cap, just average pay) but Jackson isn’t close to being the shutdown corner Bradberry is. From what I saw, Jackson isn’t a press coverage guy so Giants will have to be careful how they use him.

Bradberry was the undisputed Number 1 corner on the Panthers in 2019 and he matched up favorably against Julio Jones, Michael Thomas, and Mike Evans. He held his own in those matchups. Does Jackson have that type of highlight reel? Absolutely not. An overpay for sure.
