He is a perfect fit for the defense as long as you are comfortable with him Joe Judge met with him. There is no way Surtain gets past both Dallas and Denver.
but it's not happening. If the dirt is as bad as they say, where he may have some legal ramifications to deal with, the Giants aren't going to pull that trigger after the Baker deal.
and would not rule out the Giants picking Surtain.
Depending on what the Giants know about Parsons, you are exactly right. It is possible that they don’t like Surtain either, so trading down would make sense here. DG has lost some leverage so if JJ is in favor of a trade down, it will happen. Trading down a few spots may get the same player as #11 plus a 3rd round pick.
Not Parsons - especially after the DeAndre Baker experience. I'd go
We would be in the perfect spot for someone to move up a few slots in a trade down for them to get one of Jones or Lance. This is a pretty deep QB class, and I think there are a lot of vacancies around the league this year, I just see the demand and value being there that 5 will get drafted within the top half of the 1st round. If they could trade down no more than 7-8 slots they can still land an edge of their choosing and use that extra day 2 pick to restock talent along the OL or DL.
If they stay put and don’t trade, I think Surtain would be the guy. We have had bad luck with high picks at the CB position however, and I think we can get better value on Day 3 at that spot bringing someone on slow. Parsons talent wise would be my pick, I know nothing about his off field stuff/personality, but he alone might be the best piece to compliment this Defense.

same...CB still a need, they are not locked up long term. The DL is going to keep ty he LB free. Parsons could be everywhere in a blink. I will be unhappy with either really. As long as we don't reach we should get a very good player.
If drafting two edges is viable, trade back in the first round (say with the Jaguars), draft Edge Jayson Oweh. Draft Carlos Basham in the second (pick 42), trade Engram for late second-rounder or early third-rounder, use that pick draft either TE between Freiermuth or Long. Use remaining third-round pick (no.76) to draft OG Aaron Banks.
Boom; in three rounds you got two edges, a pick of two two-way tight ends, and an interior offensive lineman.
In this scenario, the first 10 players taken are on offense...
So the Giants will own the pick to get the best defensive guy in the draft ... Unless they are in love with a specific guy, it’s a great position for a trade down.
Take Surtain, he's a straight baller, incredibly athletic
an impact front 7 defender. We have a very good DL with depth, Martinez and lots of solid players but nobody explosive or fast.
Parsons is fast. He is a play maker. I keep hearing he is off the board but I don't know how you could take him off unless there is info about him that hasn't reached the public yet. He can play all over the front and would be perfect for the multiple front system we run.
But BBI consensus seems to be he doesn’t fit the scheme, and I’ll run with that, so it’s Surtain , because it helps even more with rotations, it allows for no drop in talent if a CB or 2 are injured, and it allows to move away from Bradberry or Jackson( more likely) and their contract if their skill level drops.
That all said, alternatively , if he grades high enough as a plug and play, Vera-Tucker makes a lot of sense at RT ,and locks that spot down for 4 years.
about Surtain's speed and man coverage; Parsons scares me on two counts -- character concerns and poor instincts/ability to get through trash as an ILB. If Slater is gone and I cannot trade down, I would entertain three names: Vera-Tucker, Kadarius Toney, Jamin Davis. I would like to consider Jaelan Phillips, but the concussion issue is real. I would take the chance with a second round pick however.

I really like Phillips, the concussion stuff is worrisome but if he passed the Giants medical evaluation then he’s the best Edge talent in the draft imo.
Trade down with the Pats would be my #1 option in this scenario though.

Why?
Because the biggest worry the Giants have is Daniel Jones.
He needs protection and he needs weapons.
Get a WR in Round Two and select 5 out of 6 Draft picks on the offensive side of the ball.
If you trust Parsons and see a role for him, that works too.
And I would suggest people don't get too attached to the consensus rankings...(I know we do every year)
With no combine, and many sitting out last season or condensed schedules, teams are going to have rankings even more widely varied than usual.
If they decide Rousseau or Oweh or whoever is worth pick 11, they'll take an edge rusher there.
+1
I'd take Parsons, but what do I know.
But I dont have those resources, so I would go with Surtain.
I think CB is a poor choice at 11 considering the investment we made in the top 2 corners on our team who are bought pretty young.
At that point its parsons or a trade back for me
Surtain, Jaycee Horn or Vera-Tucker for me.
It also shows what a success this off season has been.

Having a top CB on a rookie salary for the next 4 years would be huge.
I'd trade down in search of two OL G/T & G/C plus at least one of Freiermuth & Long at TE

How did you come to this conclusion?
In the scenario listed, ideally a trade down with NE picking up an extra 2021 2nd rounder or Chicago, picking up an extra 2021 2nd and 3rd rounder.
Trade down with the Pats would be my #1 option in this scenario though.

This report suggests the opposite.
