remember he's now in his 2nd healthy season after a very long injury break. Sometimes it takes a few years for the stuff to fully return (just as happened with Wheeler). Very exciting to see a guy with stuff like this pounding the strike zone and only giving up weak contact.

as much as it would be frustrating to have dealt Matz pre-long awaited breakout, at least the money saved and roster spot opened likely went to Walker (after Bauer fell through).

I don't regret trading him one bit. I really think he just needed a change of scenery.

When (I guess if) fully healthy, Walker will be the Mets 5th starter. That is pretty impressive.

That's for sure. If you are getting QS's from Walker most of the time you are ahead of what someone in his spot of the rotation would normally give (he was expected to be their #4 SP until Thor was healthy). We can't be 0 for 6 with RISP and 8 LOB overall against Nick f'n Neidert

as DMM pointed out he has been making a ton of hard contact and as they pointed out in the broadcast today he has the highest BA of any player in the big leagues over a certain threshold of PA's (1000?). He's one of the best hitters in baseball and he has a good case to be hitting in the top 5 even when others aren't struggling.

Nimmo - Lindor - McNeil - Alonso - Smith should be the top 5 right now. And if they want to hit Conforto 6th that's fine. 2 lefties in a row won't kill anyone.
