So, after that fiasco:
I'm not a fan of Devonta Smith, but he seems to have a great deal of athletic ability and surehandedness. Would the Giants get the best out of their players with a draft like this?
Round 1: WR Devonta Smith
Round 2: Edge Carlos Basham or Patrick Jones II;
Round 3: Trade Evan Engram to Texans for Pick no. 67. Use to Draft TE Hunter Long. Use other 3rd round pick, no. 76, to draft OG Aaron Banks.
Round 4: RB Rhamondre Stevenson
Round 6: ILB Nate Landman, OLB Sam Williams
I did not know that.
If I was FMiC I’d be more supportive of Dave Gettleman.
1. WR Jaylen Waddle- took him over Smith because I believe his upside is greater. But this is assuming medicals are okay. Perfect complement to Golladay.
Also considered: OL Vera Tucker (Slater was gone) & EDGE Paye
2. RG Wyatt Davis- admittedly, idk much about scouting OL. I do know Davis is supposed to be a plug-and-play RG which is a huge need IMO. He also fits the Giants type- big, nasty mauler
3. EDGE Quincy Roche- I really like Roche- he plays the run well on the EDGE- had 14.5 tackles for loss and can rush the passer. He fits the scheme well- he is athletic enough to cover the flat (as evidenced when he almost picked off Lawrence)
4. CB Trill Williams- I like him alot and you can never have enough corners. He's long, rangy and can eventually develop into a starter. I thought about the RB Rhamondre Stevenson but this was BPA for me
6. RB Elijah Mitchell- Big RB but good speed and vision. Something tells me the Giants like this guy- Rob Sale will know all about him and Brenton Burns worked him out at the pro day
6b. LB Ernest Jones- Giants dip into the South Carolina pipeline of LB's for the second year in a row. Jones is a better player than Brunson was. He's also a demon on ST's- Joe Judge will love that.
Summary
1. WR Jaylen Waddle (Aalabama)
2. RG Wyatt Davis (Ohio St)
3. EDGE Quincy Roche (Miami)
4. CB Trill Williams (Syracuse)
6. RB Elijah Mitchell (Louisianna)
6. LB Ernest Jones (South Carolina)
Round 1: OL Rashawn Slater (11)
Round 2: Edge Carlos Basham (42)
Round 3: WR Sage Surratt (76)
Round 4: RB Rhamondre Stevenson, traded Pick 201 and 2022 3rd round pick to Philadelphia for 127th and 150th pick, used to draft OG Aaron Banks.
Round 5: DT Jaylen Twyman (150)
Round 6: LB Derrick Barnes (195)
