NFT: Just a rant - MLBN and Youtube TV

DC Gmen Fan : 4/8/2021 7:00 pm
My son was all excited yesterday that we were going to watch the Yankees/O's game on MLBN. We had to sit through the brutally boring extra innings of A's/Dodgers just to find that MLBN is blocking the Yanks/O's. Tonight he just wanted to watch a game so we tried to tune in again and the regional game, whatever that is, is blacked out.

So with Youtube TV, how the hell am I supposed to watch any local baseball? What's the point of having the MLBN if you can't watch any damn games? Do I really have to fork over $25/month for the MLB TV just to watch the Yankees and the occasional Nats or O's game here in DC area?
I live 15 miles from the Arch

and I can't watch the Cardinals at all unless I sign back up for cable television. When the Fox regionals were sold to Ballysports I lost the channel and the damn blackout rules are so ridiculous that I can't even watch them on the app if I paid for it!

I’m in Western Mass. and tried to watch on the MLB app and it was blacked out though I could get the radio feed. Checked YouTube TV and it was on while I was about 30 miles from home. Good to go. Watching it on the way home (GF driving), when we got about two miles or less from home, it stops and I get a message saying it’s blacked out. That was JUST after Conforto was hit. Had to go back to the MLB app for audio to find out what happened. I feel ripped off on both ends.
But, I’m going to visit NY again soon and set my YouTube Tv to that area as my home area and then as long as I log on from there every 3 months I’ll get SNY and the other NY stations again. It’s what I did for Giants games until it wasn’t safe to travel back.
This may not be helpful.

I watch games on my computer or ipad and send that to my TV if i care to. This may not work for you.

On my non-tv devices, if i am blacked out, I use a VPN [in my case, tunnelbear]. I don't get blackout restrictions if I am tuning in from Latvia.

This may not work for you in your situation.

MLBN does not show every game, just select games a couple times a week

and if they are showing a local game to your area, it;s usually blacked out and covered on your local regional sports network.

If YTTV doesn't have the local sports network, you are probably screwed as the MLB TV app doesn't allow you to watch any local games, only out of market games. You would probably get Yanks games on MLB TV but be screwed for O's games.

This was the same case for Vue TV (now defunct)whenI lived in Philly. I paid extra for the YESNetwork to watch Yankees games. But the first game I tried to watch on YES, they were playing The Michael Kay Show or Centerstage instead. I was pissed.

The VPN thing works. Also, I just stream through reddit and every game works fine.

After that tho, when I moved back to NJ, I just paid for cable and couldnt be happier. Fuck cord cutting.
It was blacked out becuase the Orioles would be considered

in market for DC. You can probably watch just about any other Yankee series.
I live in Ohio

The game was blacked out here too for some reason, I don't understand the logic.
i am in Raleigh and we are blacked out for Nats and O's

when YouTubeTV dropped the regional sports channels. Yes it's a bit more, but you do get the regional sports networks as far as I know. I get NESN and NESN+ here in the Boston area that were dropped from YTTV.

Another option is uzzu.tv - $99 for a season pass to all MLB, NBA, NHL and NFL games. Home and away broadcasts but no DVR options.
Uzzu TV - ( New Window )

I get that. It's just my little boy was really pumped up about watching ANY baseball game as he's really getting into it and it was sad to see him disappointed.

.

That happened yesterday, got blacked out yesterday.
Youtubetv, doesn't carry NESN (read in the Globe).
they couldn't come to an agreement, the Sox were on the
road in Baltimore. I have mlb.tv for the Yanks.
But when the Yanks and Sox meet, and the game is on NESN,
well I can't get NESN on mlb.tv, so there you go.
A lot of their Sat. and Sun. games are on National TV.
They LOVE showing the Yanks/Sox on Sunday Night baseball.
