NFT: Wrestlemania 37 Begins Tonight

Anakim : 4/10/2021 3:18 pm
It'll be a two-night affair. From a wrestling standpoint, it looks like there'll be a few quality matches:

Edge vs. Daniel Bryan vs. Roman Reigns
Cesaro vs. Seth Rollins
Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn
Asuka vs. Rhea Ripley

Bobby Lashley vs. Drew McIntyre will be the first match tonight. I was hoping for Lashley vs. Lesnar, but it should be a decent match regardless.

From an attraction P.O.V., the card isn't very heavy. Not many hyped matches or generational rivalries, but it should be a solid show.
A side note

I think its A&E has a series coming up on the stories and lives of some of the older wrestlers. Starts on April 19th. 8 part series

They already did Macho Man and Elizabeth in the first season. I think this season features the Ultimate Warrior, David Arquette, Brian Pillman, Dynamite Kid, etc.

Oh you're right. There are 3 series. Tomorrow is Autopsy: The Last Hours of Macho Man on REEL channel. They have a Benoit one being repeated that is also on On Demand on my cable. I think that more will be soon.

Dark Side of the Ring is really well done. The ones with Chris Benoit and the von Erichs were exceptional.
Holy shit

Here's an idea:

Vince should sell WWE to Disney, they cease operations completely and then we can all just give up on wrestling.

That was an awesome match by Rollins and Cesaro
PetesHereNow : 4/10/2021 9:53 pm : link
Wish it would have been for a title. Cesaro deserves it.
Rollins/Cesaro had a great match.

Can you guys explain to me what is interesting about a pre-determined show with supposed heroes and villains in a controlled setting - and apparently, people pay for it?

Full disclosure, I watched the old WWF on USA Network religiously every Sunday at 11am. When I was a kid - like pre-teen. I remember watching the first few Wrestlemanias as a kid and they were so much fun. Watching Hulk Hogan bodyslam ATG was unreal as a kid. Loved the old school wrestlers like Macho Man, UW, Super Fly, Steamboat, Sheik, Volkov, and dozens more.

I watched a couple events over the last few years but couldn't get into it. I'm just curious - no judgement at all - what keeps you watching?

Hell, I would love something fun to watch again! I must be missing the entire thing here. I'm certain it's my own ignorance as a 45 year old guy. Just wondering what you guys see. Tia.
Same reason

Entertainment, plain and simple.

I’m 45 too, watches as a kid. I check out of it for chunks of time, but keep coming back.

If you are actually interested in getting back into it, I recommend watching NXT. It’s kinda like WWE’s minor league but the action and athleticism is great and less silly storylines.
What's the best option for watching actually wrestling?
NYG27 : 4/11/2021 2:29 pm : link
RAW and Smackdown are currently unwatchable for me in their current format, with a bit too much talking and lack of wrestling action.

What's a better option to watch wrestling matches, NXT or AEW?

NXT. NXT may be boring, but you actually watch wrestling. AEW is a clusterfuck.

AEW is turning into WCW, bunch of old WWE guys reclaiming their youth..

They are doing the opposite of they said they were going to be

It's a soap opera, just played out in a ring. When you think of it that way, that's why wrestling has it's appeal. I used to watch wrestling as a kid but rarely tune in anymore
What did everyone else think
sr267 : 4/11/2021 6:57 pm : link
Of the Lashley/McIntyre match? I thought it was a great match between two big bastards, and I honestly didn’t know who was going to win until it was over.

AEW will never be as interesting as WCW was. For all the warts that company had, 1997 WCW had wrestling at its apex during the Monday Night Wars.

(except starrcade 97 lol)

I get why lashley went over but with the way it was hyped and fans returning and all but that result should of been somewhere else on the card. It kinda deflated the rest of the night

Gotta admit, I was marking out during the main event when Edge and Bryan both had Roman in the crossface. I don't follow it that closely, but it seems like WWE has a bunch of interesting characters but many of the storylines are meh.

I wonder if little Daniel did the same marking out back in old 2007. CROSSFACE!
