Any rumors about Hall and/or Eichel? I think Hall has been held out the last couple of games in anticipation of a trade.
My cousin is a huge Isles fan and he told me that they are still interested in adding Hall even after the Palmieri trade. I'm not sure if it's feasible. The Sabres would have to eat some of the cap hit or take back a contract.
Makes absolutely zero sense. He signed for two years at an extremely team friendly deal. The draft pick wouldn't be worth to trade a guy playing hard on every shift and is cheap.
by Blackwell, but he's a guy if you do get a reasonable offer for IMO, you take it.
he's absolutely replaceable and probably peak value.
He's really a 3rd/4th liner playing above that, high motor guy who is absolutely maximizing his skills. Good for him, but I wouldn't want him blocking Kakko or kravtsov - and then once Kakko and Kravtsov move up and if Blackwell is on the 4th line - and your offer was a decent one, think of it in those terms - would you trade a 4th line player for whatever was offered?
I don't know what the Rangers would get for him, but I don't think it will be more than what they'd get right now (but who knows maybe a late late bloomer).
What could they POSSIBLY get for a player that, while solid, is undersized and just broke out? Im calling shenanigans on that one.
What could they possibly get when they sell high?
You're answering a question with another question.
What could they get for an overachieving, young, cheap player?
Beats me. My guess is if they trade Blackwell, it's more due to the expansion draft. They may not feel comfortable protecting him over a younger guy like Gauthier (who they should keep) or Howden (who they should expose).
It feels like Buffalo mUse have an offer on the table
For Hall they can live with, but probably not a bidding war. They may only be getting offered rental prices since signing him long term is not an option for many contenders right now.
Dreger did report that the Isles came back to inquire about Hall after they completed the deal with the Devils, but they don’t have much to offer without a current year 1st rounder or many prospects. Could they get him for a second and someone like Bellows? Likely not, particularly if they need Buffalo to retain salary and/or take back a contract.
Add to that the fact there is no room for Hall on L1 now that Trotz has fallen in love with Leo Komarov playing there...

Thats what I was looking for. Good answer. I keep forgetting about the expansion draft and have no idea the rules. However protecting Howden and leaving Blackwell open for poaching is criminal. Blackwell is also exactly the kinda guy who excels in the playoffs: teams overlook him as a threat, he does well when given space, then when they lock on to him, it frees up more talented players and he is good at making passes under pressure.
Blackwell is 28 years old and including this year has played in 64 NHL games, I will rest comfortably if he's on my opponent overlooking him in the playoffs.
Blackwell's 26.1% shooting percentage is so unsustainable I'd trade him today for a 4th round pick and be happy.

Strome has 37 points in 40 games, and he's signed to a reasonable deal next year. Buchnevich has 35 points in 39 games and is an RFA at the end of the year. They're also both much younger than Foligno.

We have acquired forward Anders Bjork and a second-round pick in the 2021 NHL Draft from the Boston Bruins in exchange for forwards Taylor Hall and Curtis Lazar.
Teams haven’t been shy in shopping their cap space. NJD, Det and SJ have all been used as a broker to remedy cap issues to this point. The NYR have approximately $9 mil in space and are among those clubs willing to facilitate financially complex trades as well.
RE: RE: Sounds like Taylor Hall and Curtis Lazar may be headed to Boston
They acquired LD Jonas Siegenthaler from Washington in exchange for a 2021 3rd round pick(Conditional Arizona pick).
Jay I know he is an up and coming UFA and older so of course we'll probably deal Kulikov, but honestly I would love to see the Devils offer him a 2 year extension. Now maybe he wants to go to a contender and that's fine. However he's been real solid and with the shit show that is our defense I think we should be looking at keep the few quality ones we have. You need a couple of vets to steady the ship. You can't have a team of 20-23 year olds.

brutal. Buffalo is just a massive shit show, Bjork has been a healthy scratch often.
Hall is maybe the best player to be moved this deadline and you get a 2nd round pick and a fringe player?
This just isn't 2017 Taylor Hall any more. Since his knee injury 2 years ago he hasn't been the same player.
I think he's the same player or close to it, but I think his 2017 season was an outlier. I remember we (not you and me, but people on here in general) argued about Hart. He may have deserved it for his performance that year, but I wasn't convinced MacKinnon wasn't more worthy.
He's just on a shitty team and losing is contagious.
Outright theft by BOS. I agree with pj, Hall has looked good to me, skates well, powerful, creates offensive zone opportunities, have to be aware of him at all times. Seen quite a bit of him with this concentrated schedule. smh
given no one wants to keep him around despite his talent.
Count me in on trading Blackwell, if equitable. Sell high, don't want yet another bottom six vet blocking a young talent. Could he be needed for the Kraken draft list?

I agree with you, Kulikov has been a very pleasant surprise and I would love to keep him. If they do move him chances are that he will just be a rental and if so I expect the Devils to attempt to bring him back this offseason.
Siegenthaler was a solid pickup and a similar player to Kulikov. He's not an offensive threat but the Devils don't really need that. Siegenthaler should be a solid compliment to a prospect like Reilly Walsh.

Really? I disagree. He looks like a shell of what he was. Mostly lacking the aggression he once had offensively. The Sabres are not just a dog, but a dog with fleas. Theres a reason why he was all but given away. As a 3rd line winger with some PP mins, hes fine I guess. But the guy looks pretty blah to me. He doesnt work hard to get open, he doesnt dig out pucks he doesnt play very good D in my opinion. He still has a nice shot. Thats really it.
(so far) we have seen Laine, Pierre Luc Dubois, and Taylor Hall traded, I think you can reach some conclusions about fit and chemistry impacting on ice results (as well as coaching).
with few outliers Hall has been a .75 ppg player.
and I'd bet in Boston playing with Charlie Coyle and Pastrnak or whoever he plays with, he finds his game.

I dont disagree. Was referring to his value as a player in general. He is another top of the circle shooter and what he can still do is shoot.

#NYR do make a trade deadline addition: Rangers are close to signing 3rd-round pick Zac Jones out of UMass after winning the national title.
Jones will report to Rangers, he’s burning the first year of his deal and #NYR expect him to be in lineup after quarantine.

He's also going to be 30 this year, which doesn't mean much in hockey terms but it is kind of crazy because I remember the Hall vs Seguin battles raging like they were yesterday and a little ironic Boston winds up with Hall all these years later.

I mean I think if you play under 10 games as a rookie, you don’t burn a year on ELC. If he has to Quarantine why would they want to risk a year of ELC being burned? Gives 1 less full season before paying him all in hopes of catching Boston who has 4 pts and 2 games in hand on them... this isn’t a positive.

10 game rule is only for 19-year olds. Jones is already 20.
I was wrong on that my bad, also I think due to age he woulda been 2 year ELC next season so yeah. No longer confused and upset about it, just thought wrong.

chop, we'll agree to disagree
In 17-18 and the first 33 games of of 2018-19 Hall had 50 goals and
120 Points in 109 games. He didnt play a game after December of 2018 for the rest of the season due to a knee injury. Since the start of 2019-20 Hall has scored 71 points including all of 18 goals in 102 games with 3 separate teams. At some point it's the player, not the guys around him. Listen its definately a no brainer move for Boston. Maybe he gets a big goal or 2 for them down the stretch and in the playoffs, but this is nowhere near the Hart trophy Hall. He is a shell of what he was.

5'10 170 pound hard hitter, lol. I mean he wouldn't be the first, but that's not who he is.

My guess is the Caps view this as two trades in one:
1) Panik plus a pick to relieve them of $2.75M in flat cap environment going forward with 2 more years on that contract;
2) Then Vrana plus a pick for Mantha.

if he plays this year, my guess is QB on PP2.
Adam Fox has one inch and 10 pounds on him...
I don't consider Fox a hard hitter either and when he's at his most disadvantageous situations are in the corners and in front of the net

You need a couple of vets to steady the ship. You can't have a team of 20-23 year olds.

Sabres rumored to get a second rounder and Anders Bjork
What happened to Jeff Skinner?
I would take Laine or Pierre Luc Dubois on my team any day
I would love to see the Devils acquire Laine. I think he would do very well next to Hischier or Hughes.

Count me in on trading Blackwell, if equitable. Sell high, don't want yet another bottom six vet blocking a young talent. Could he be needed for the Kraken draft list?

Blackwell is 28 years old and including this year has played in 64 NHL games, I will rest comfortably if he's on my opponent overlooking him in the playoffs.
Blackwell's 26.1% shooting percentage is so unsustainable I'd trade him today for a 4th round pick and be happy.
I agree pj. CB is playing over his head at this point. My thinking was only that he is hot right now and could do really well for a team in the playoffs. Hence the "what could we get for him" comment
Yeah, I agree and I'm terrible at predicting trade value and contract value. I see players go for a 1st I think are bottom 6 players and players I think can be significant contributors go for less.
mind boggling some times, so I stopped predicting.
Which tells me to not trade him. Lethim stay and either build more value for a better deal, or keep him to be a functional piece.

Didn't they trade Kulikov to the Oilers today?

are trading Dmitry Kulikov to the Oilers for a conditional 2022 draft pick. @KevinWeekes
had the trade first.
Really? Thats really it.
with few outliers Hall has been a .75 ppg player.
and I'd bet in Boston playing with Charlie Coyle and Pastrnak or whoever he plays with, he finds his game.

I dont disagree. Was referring to his value as a player in general. He is another top of the circle shooter and what he can still do is shoot.
@frank_seravalli
#NYR do make a trade deadline addition: Rangers are close to signing 3rd-round pick Zac Jones out of UMass after winning the national title.
Jones will report to Rangers, he’s burning the first year of his deal and #NYR expect him to be in lineup after quarantine.

(so far) we have seen Laine, Pierre Luc Dubois, and Taylor Hall traded, I think you can reach some conclusions about fit and chemistry impacting on ice results (as well as coaching).

Huh?
5'10 170 pound hard hitter, lol. I mean he wouldn't be the first, but that's not who he is.
you're right professor.
He reminds me of Victor Mete - good player with some usefulness, but I can absolutely see him getting pushed around in front of the net and losing corner battles.
if he plays this year, my guess is QB on PP2.

My guess is the Caps view this as two trades in one:
1) Panik plus a pick to relieve them of $2.75M in flat cap environment going forward with 2 more years on that contract;
2) Then Vrana plus a pick for Mantha.

I don't consider Fox a hard hitter either and when he's at his most disadvantageous situations are in the corners and in front of the net

Vrana also seemed to be in the doghouse of the coaching staff. I think he was a healthy scratch for a few games recently.
