Any rumors about Hall and/or Eichel? I think Hall has been held out the last couple of games in anticipation of a trade.
My cousin is a huge Isles fan and he told me that they are still interested in adding Hall even after the Palmieri trade. I'm not sure if it's feasible. The Sabres would have to eat some of the cap hit or take back a contract.
Makes absolutely zero sense. He signed for two years at an extremely team friendly deal. The draft pick wouldn't be worth to trade a guy playing hard on every shift and is cheap.
by Blackwell, but he's a guy if you do get a reasonable offer for IMO, you take it.
he's absolutely replaceable and probably peak value.
He's really a 3rd/4th liner playing above that, high motor guy who is absolutely maximizing his skills. Good for him, but I wouldn't want him blocking Kakko or kravtsov - and then once Kakko and Kravtsov move up and if Blackwell is on the 4th line - and your offer was a decent one, think of it in those terms - would you trade a 4th line player for whatever was offered?
I don't know what the Rangers would get for him, but I don't think it will be more than what they'd get right now (but who knows maybe a late late bloomer).
What could they POSSIBLY get for a player that, while solid, is undersized and just broke out? Im calling shenanigans on that one.
What could they possibly get when they sell high?
You're answering a question with another question.
What could they get for an overachieving, young, cheap player?
Beats me. My guess is if they trade Blackwell, it's more due to the expansion draft. They may not feel comfortable protecting him over a younger guy like Gauthier (who they should keep) or Howden (who they should expose).
It feels like Buffalo mUse have an offer on the table
For Hall they can live with, but probably not a bidding war. They may only be getting offered rental prices since signing him long term is not an option for many contenders right now.
Dreger did report that the Isles came back to inquire about Hall after they completed the deal with the Devils, but they don’t have much to offer without a current year 1st rounder or many prospects. Could they get him for a second and someone like Bellows? Likely not, particularly if they need Buffalo to retain salary and/or take back a contract.
Add to that the fact there is no room for Hall on L1 now that Trotz has fallen in love with Leo Komarov playing there...

Thats what I was looking for. Good answer. I keep forgetting about the expansion draft and have no idea the rules. However protecting Howden and leaving Blackwell open for poaching is criminal. Blackwell is also exactly the kinda guy who excels in the playoffs: teams overlook him as a threat, he does well when given space, then when they lock on to him, it frees up more talented players and he is good at making passes under pressure.
Blackwell is 28 years old and including this year has played in 64 NHL games, I will rest comfortably if he's on my opponent overlooking him in the playoffs.
Blackwell's 26.1% shooting percentage is so unsustainable I'd trade him today for a 4th round pick and be happy.

I agree pj. CB is playing over his head at this point. My thinking was only that he is hot right now and could do really well for a team in the playoffs. Hence the "what could we get for him" comment

I don't disagree that his shooting percentage us unsustainable. However, he's playing productive top-6 minutes and is signed for two seasons at league minimum.
With the team up against the cap and with Zibanejad and Buchnevich due major raises, Blackwell isn't the guy I would look to move unless the braintrust were convinced Kakko/Lafreniere are ready to move up and are blocked. Icetime would say otherwise, but I guess it's possible that's how they feel.
I think it's more likely they would move one of the glut of 4th line Cs (Rooney, Howden, etc) + Georgiev + B. Smith.

Yeah, I agree and I'm terrible at predicting trade value and contract value. I see players go for a 1st I think are bottom 6 players and players I think can be significant contributors go for less.
mind boggling some times, so I stopped predicting.

not sure I don't know Merrill that well, but what I do know is Merrill is 6'4 and won't be man handled defensively like Mete is but he's not the skater Mete is.
Mete should be a forward.
for the price, it's worth a shot, Habs lost Gallagher for the year and are hanging on by a thread and their blue line needs the most improvement
This is clearly a seller's market. I think Buch and Strome could and should net a huge haul each.
Foligno has 16 points in 42 games and netted a first and two fourths
Strome has 37 points in 40 games, and he's signed to a reasonable deal next year. Buchnevich has 35 points in 39 games and is an RFA at the end of the year. They're also both much younger than Foligno.
Doogs: Doesn't agree with you guys on Colin Blackwell

We have acquired forward Anders Bjork and a second-round pick in the 2021 NHL Draft from the Boston Bruins in exchange for forwards Taylor Hall and Curtis Lazar.
Teams haven’t been shy in shopping their cap space. NJD, Det and SJ have all been used as a broker to remedy cap issues to this point. The NYR have approximately $9 mil in space and are among those clubs willing to facilitate financially complex trades as well.
RE: RE: Sounds like Taylor Hall and Curtis Lazar may be headed to Boston
They acquired LD Jonas Siegenthaler from Washington in exchange for a 2021 3rd round pick(Conditional Arizona pick).
Jay I know he is an up and coming UFA and older so of course we'll probably deal Kulikov, but honestly I would love to see the Devils offer him a 2 year extension. Now maybe he wants to go to a contender and that's fine. However he's been real solid and with the shit show that is our defense I think we should be looking at keep the few quality ones we have. You need a couple of vets to steady the ship. You can't have a team of 20-23 year olds.
RE: RE: RE: Sounds like Taylor Hall and Curtis Lazar may be headed to Boston

brutal. Buffalo is just a massive shit show, Bjork has been a healthy scratch often.
Hall is maybe the best player to be moved this deadline and you get a 2nd round pick and a fringe player?
This just isn't 2017 Taylor Hall any more. Since his knee injury 2 years ago he hasn't been the same player.
I think he's the same player or close to it, but I think his 2017 season was an outlier. I remember we (not you and me, but people on here in general) argued about Hart. He may have deserved it for his performance that year, but I wasn't convinced MacKinnon wasn't more worthy.
He's just on a shitty team and losing is contagious.
Outright theft by BOS. I agree with pj, Hall has looked good to me, skates well, powerful, creates offensive zone opportunities, have to be aware of him at all times. Seen quite a bit of him with this concentrated schedule. smh
given no one wants to keep him around despite his talent.
Count me in on trading Blackwell, if equitable. Sell high, don't want yet another bottom six vet blocking a young talent. Could he be needed for the Kraken draft list?

Hall will be traded.
Eichel is out for the year, no? I would imagine if he's traded, it'll be in the offseason.

Ryan Murray, Sami Vatanen, and Will Butcher are available.
I hope the Devils sell high on Miles Wood as well.

This is not a ho him yawn trade.....this is a trade that can push the Leafs over the top to win that game 7 they usually lose.
I don’t think little Mete is worth crying a tear over. Merrill is more needed, although, I’m sure he will be on the Habs 3rd line of defense.
