Montgomery vs. Honeywell
Rare talent in today's game. I will say Tauchman has a lot of tools. If only he gets his power back
You may like him now...5-4 rbi single

Makes no sense

definitely helps his stock
Leave Chapman in to finish, please
Amen, man did they need this inning
Where's the finesse? 88 is more like it.
And the bats finally woke up with 2 outs in the 10th. Nice to leave that dump with a win
Whew...
Adios amigos. On to the Masters/
By the skin of our teeth today. A hundred chances to win, but glad, obviously, that the hits lined up at the end. I think I’ve had my hill of 10th inning plays at the plate.
I liked him alot. Don't understand adding Odor and losing Estrada.

WTF. Ugh. I hate how they're handling the middle infield.

Absolutely. It's way too early for any doom and gloom.

All I can think of is freeing up space to protect against losing people to Rule 5. And perhaps that they felt he had reached his upper level of ability.

I think there is going to be an above-average amount of churn in the 40 man roster AND prospects this year. Maybe not blockbuster trades, but getting filler pieces while clearing future roster space.
Remember that outside Kluber, the Yanks don’t have a lot of FA this winter. That means a tougher battle than normal to protect guys over the winter by getting them on the 40.
There are also a large number of guys who have been on the 40 for so long that this is their last option year (like Estrada). Look for most of them (Abreu and Cessa fall into this group) to be moved at some point in the near future for MLB guys in the last year of their deals to allow multiple 40 man spots to open.
The Yanks got burned badly this winter in Rule 5- I think they do what they need to to prevent giving legit MLB guys to their rivals (the Red Sox got a serious prospect for basically nothing- same for the Indians).
But the issues remain. And these issues are not due to a very slow and lethargic start to this season. The chronic issues have remained but what in reality, can change?
Hicks, Judge, Stanton, Sanchez are all here for a while. They will provide some fireworks here and there with a 475' homer. But I guess .220-240 BA from these guys are the best we can hope for? I guess when you trade power for avg., that is what we as fans get. While I am not satisfied with our defense in general, I can live with it. It is the chronic, year after year, hitting that fails us regularly during the regular season, and especially in the post season.
Happy with the late inning rally and the win. But I just don't see the offense doing their part. We had better hope pitching stays healthy and productive.
I won’t quibble with the major league record because 90-win regular seasons are still a success by any metric, though perhaps the Yanks should strive for more. No WS appearances since 2009 with our payrolls calls for criticism, not celebration. However, I won’t mince words when it comes to the minor league system, especially when it comes to drafting. Excuses here are always “oh we pick low” and “how about that one reliever we turned into a starter for the entire draft”, that’s not enough man, the drafting has sucked for years. If not for the IFA our system would be total trash. Just look at the recent top picks.
