Top 3rd round OL options

Judge_and_Jury : 4/11/2021 7:11 pm
Lets say what we have been hearing is true that WR could be BPA at 11 and then Edge takes precedence over OL, and we go Edge in round 2.

I strongly believe one of the Single greatest incremental improvements for this team as currently constituted is to have a line that consistently wins in outside ZBS for Barkley. And the additional benefit of better protecting Jones who sometimes lacks pass rush awareness thus far in his young career. Thirdly the potential benefit of OT versatilit in case we need it if Peart/Solder hurt or flop. My guess is that spells a ready to play year 1 good to very good athletic OL who if put at RG can pull with ease and can be backup insirance at RT in case Solder/Peart flop/get hurt.

Question is will that type of player be available at 76 or will it necessitate a trade up (perhaps Engram as trade bait)

How realistically close can we get to this type of player if we wait until round 3 or via trade up to back half of round 2 perhaps?
I'd say it's likely

I think guys like Trey Smith, Ben Cleveland, Aaron Banks and maybe Jackson Carman will go in Round 3.
Lines up with what Anakim said.

That being said, I was thinking trade Engram for the chance to draft a two-way tight end late second round/early third round, say Pat Freiermuth or Hunter Long, and use our normal third-round pick to draft said OL.
A small trade down in 1st

I like that idea. My thinking is:

1) WR
2) ER like Joe Tryon or Joseph Ossai
Trade our 3rd and Evan Engram to move to the second round and draft a guy like Creed Humphrey

I think this would be ideal. Humphrey is a instant starter IMO and I would love for him to be our Center, no disrespect to Gates.

Wouldn't really matter. Both Humphrey and Gates can play all 3 IOL positions.

Anakim I think this may be close to how the Gmen are thinking too. Im guessing they probably like Oweh a bunch and may trade up for him if they take Devonta at 11.
Several other 3rd round possibilities

Trey Smith is an interesting one. He's a first round talent, I think it's all medical with him. Will be very interesting to see where his name gets called.

1 thing to consider though. If Engram is gone and Rudolph gets injured - do we have anybody else who can play?

Late round pick like Tommy Tremble and Kaden Smith. With our stable of WRs if we add Devonta...will mitigate this a bit.
