Joe Judge has assembled the largest coaching staff in Giants franchise history and what, unofficially, is believed to be the largest football staff in the NFL heading into the 2021 season. Including Judge, there are 25 designated spots on this staff, and this does not include strength and conditioning personnel. Nor does it include Pat Flaherty, a former Giants offensive line coach, hired by Judge as a consultant. |
I'd leave Mara out of the equation- it's not like many of us have been enthralled with his hiring choices or football judgment over last 10 years.
Yeah you have to have a solid chain of command and people are about chain of command for something like this to work. I'm hoping these additional people to give more bandwidth to help with technique and total understanding of the system vs the game plan/strategy/etc
Not for me. He wants as much info as possible and knows he can’t get it all himself. He’s going to delegate responsibility and weigh all options. He wouldnt be doing this if he felt it would create an atmosphere with too many people getting in the way.
And I wonder if a lot of this has to do with lessons learned during COVID, and how much less time he gets to spend with the players.
I doubt Judge will tolerate either.
Judge seems to have history with most of these guys and came up alongside them. There's at least reason to believe they're all on the same page. If not, I think Judge has shown the ability to make changes on the fly and weed out non-believers. Probably the biggest concern is still Garrett.

I wonder why he kept Garrett to begin with.
:-)
Individual attention, individual teaching maybe requires more individuals LOL
Doesn’t just mean breaking down film of next week’s opponent, but can include studying tendencies and trends across the league, studying what the best college programs are doing, and self scouting to identify weaknesses that are holding the Giants back
I like the fact Judge is surrounding himself with a lot of guys he has a prior relationship with in these roles. He really is much more of a CEO coach than the Giants have had since Coughlin
Also, starts building a bench of coaching talent for when guys like Garrett and Graham eventually leave

I hope Graham is here like BB somehow was here forever in the '80s, Haha. One can dream. Graham is a HC in waiting.
I think pretty much everyone is optimistic about Judge. We just don't know if we're right, yet.
Pretty sure Tampa had 28 coaches last season

Garrett reeks of Mara. I think he's getting his next OC from one of the guys on the staff now once JG is let go, if he in fact is.
