Not sure why the other thread was deleted, but okay? Obviously no LBJ or AD tonight for Lakers, but Kuzma is back. Same Knicks starting 5: Elfrid, RJ, Bullock, Julius, & Noel.
credit to Payton tonight is warranted? Thought he played very well and made some big plays. Toggling back and forth between the Yanks and Knicks is BS. Need to stagger these games to make it more convenient for me to watch them! Stupid leagues.
I thought this, too! I mean, it’s not like I watch the Lakers, so unsure if this was just a one-off, but, man, he couldn’t even hold on to the ball tonight. Sort of like Siakim last night whi was playing like he had seen a couple ghosts on the way over.

Absolutely - he was just really sharp-minded tonight- going right at the rim. The Lakers had no answer.

Ive said it before, Ill say it again. Payton is good at getting buckets in the paint. When the floor is spread out, he is terrific at gaining leverage and finishing. He is a terrible point guard except for that and his on the ball D.
You can say what you want about that opinion, but when Barrett and Randle are on the floor, Payton one on one with any defender is a match up I like a lot given other options. Crucify me if you like, but when Payton misses, its usually on jumpers. The guy....gets.....lay-ups.

Shit. I'm with you on this, Chop. When he lowers the shoulder and drives, he's a force. He's a big, strong m'fer with some athleticism. He puts his fuckin head down and goes, he's a weapon. He shoots that weird short-armed "jumper" from 18 feet, we're in "fucked" land.
All that said, his decision making is absurd at times during high-leverage situations. I'm not mad at this team AT ALL.
Let me also say what a joy it is to just smush a bunch of heartless
I mean, talk about a recipe in which the team is less than the sum of its parts...
I'm enjoying the heck out of this Knicks team that is growing together, and which, obviously, still has a long way to go, but it is always so much more enjoyable to root for a team that you can grow with rather than a bunch of mercenaries.
And I hear the counter-argument there, that most of these Knicks were not Knicks draftees, but Randle has really come into his own here - Rose and Gibson feel like members of the coaching staff - even Noel feels like he is reaching True-Knick* status. I love it when under-appreciated players find their footing and come together - so much better than rooting for the bloated corpses of Andre Drummond and Marc friggin' Gasol.

with John Wallace interviewing Rod Strickland brings back memories.
Back at Syracuse, us athletes all knew each other for the most part - but my group of friends was really close with Wallace, Cipolla, Hill and Sims (and McNabb) from the basketball team - and Casey Powell from the lax team and many others. I played football, so a lot of the brothers gravitated to their own thing at the time.
Quick story about Wallace - he was notorious for having carte blanche when it came to parking on the Syracuse campus. He would park his tricked out suv ANYWHERE he wanted. On sidewalks, front lawns of houses, campus crosswalks by Archibold Gym, 1/2 parked in front of the bookstore by Maggies, etc. Nobody fucked with him and he was the nicest cat you could meet. I remember being at Harry's in 1996 and he had the Final 4 net draped around his neck after beating Kansas in Denver horkin a bottle of champagne with a couple girls on his arm.
Now he's on MSG talking about "Once a Knick, always a Knick." Good times.

Im no pro by any means...but I was raosed on the asphalt courts of north Jersey and as a shrimpy (at first) little WASP, I had to learn how to play the ppint to get in games. Outside of dishing the ball, I learned the best way to score was at the basket. You dont do multi cross-overs and stutter steps to get lay-ups...that lay-up is won by the first step and Payton has an awesome first step. Watch next time...its quick, and its long. His opponent has no chance if he times it right.
Guy gets lay ups. When he shoots jumpers (unless its a wide open 3) I get fucking mad. I love me a mid range jumper, but he doesnt have one. Get to the lane and either get to the hoop or get to the line. Otherwise, we have no need for you.
RE: Let me also say what a joy it is to just smush a bunch of heartless
May I add how nice is it knowing a bunch of fraud front runners who have never stepped foot in California paid top $ to where their shitty Lakers merch to the Garden tonight and be forced to watch these frauds running around in Lakers jerseys get curb stomped by the Knicks.

Another nice win taking care of business last night. Same Lakers team just drubbed Brooklyn 2 nights ago.
- Drummond is a physical beast but he has zero heart or desire. He should get 15 points in his sleep just cleaning up around the rim- especially against an undersized Knicks team. To score 3 points last night is pathetic. You watch what he's capable of- look at what he was doing to the Nets and Aldridge and to have a game like that is inexcusable. Knicks should want no part of him in free agency.
- Begley is reporting the Knicks will pursue Schroder in free agency. Thoughts? Personally I don't hate it or love it...
is a career 34% shooter from 3 and Elfrid is 29%. That 5% matters a lot over time.
Also I really like saying Schroder's name.
Payton's a better defender though, and gets to the rim better.
I don't think Payton is appreciably better or worse. I just would prefer an upgrade
I would strongly disagree with that. Schroder is better at getting to the rim and as a defender and just overall a much better player. Is that upgrade worth the large price he's going to get? Probably not.

how could anyone crucify this take? It's obvious that Payton can do some good things. The Knicks are above 500 and he's playing a lot of minutes. They are one of the best defensive teams going and he's helping the cause.
Payton is not a terrible PG. Have we forgotten what a truly terrible PG looks like? We've seen plenty over the years.
Just because we need to upgrade the PG position doesn't mean Payton is terrible. Sadly, he's probably the best PG we've seen here since Jeremy Lin or the 5 minutes we saw of Chauncey Billups.
But he is very inconsistent.
Every 5th game or so he has one of these games.
Otherwise the other 4 he is painful to watch.
I hope he puts it together for the next 17 games and the playoffs and the Knicks find a replacement.
It will be interesting with all the pending FA's on this team who they bring back.
I would like to see
Burks,Noel,Rose, and Taj back next year if the price is right.
I think Noel can be a cheaper alternative to paying Robinson 15+ million.
and when the ball is in Randle or Rjs hands he is relatively useless on the court because he cant hit an open shot. His man just doubles whoever has the ball..
Yeah he can drive to the hoop but most of the time it is him pounding the ball into the ground and taking shots outside of the rhythm of the offense..
He is not a very good player and shouldnt be startung
That's a "pass" from me on Schröder. He's the epitome of average and will be paid significant money (turned down 4 for 84 from LA). I'd far sooner toss money like that at Lonzo or GTJR.
Yeah if Schroeder came at Elfie money I'd be ok with it

That is insane that he would pass on that. There's no way he's getting more than that.
much do guys like McConnell or Caruso get via FA? I'd take either one as part of a Thibs coached team (as depth/rotation fillers not huge adds).
I hate them when they play against the Knicks, so i would probably love them on the kbicks..
I do think Caruso is a little overrated by Laker fans, kind of like some Knicks fans with Frank
Fully agree on Caruso BUT... "the bald guy" (as my girlfriend calls him, her family being Laker fans).. does clearly do "the little things" when you watch him. He's not a starter on a good NBA team but both he and McConnell would fit what the Knicks are trying to do and build.
Not unlike a certain NY based football team we all follow lol
Randle great, noel and gibson great..
His offense hasnt been terrible though, i actually think its better than Mitch's
Randle great, noel and gibson great..
Completely naked when he dedicated this one to you buddy. Eye contact could be assumed as well.
😎

Agreed. We have 2 games against the Hornets and 1 game against the Celtics which will be huge games. Need to take care of business
