The Marlins game Saturday it killed them. 1st and 3rd in the first inning. Lindor CS, Conforto K.
lol. Was just going to say the same.
As good as Smith has been, if you are facing Kershaw or another elite lefty you might want to bench one of our OF. Also Pillar is useful I guess if we are playing in an AL ballpark and then you can DH Smith or have Smith play 1B so Alonso can DH

news just traded for Nimmo because I think he scores 100 runs, bad news... not in my lineup. Dom Smith needs to play every day. Pillar lol.

Sure. But how many "elite" lefties are there? Is Corbin "elite" Not as if there are many starts against such pitchers.
yup offense needs to get on track and carry this team. No excuses this year.

As I said look at Pillar's numbers versus, say, Kershaw and Snell. In a key situation out of the bullpen against someone like Josh Hader or Will Smith I could see it too.
his statcast numbers have been ok - 90 percentile hard hit rate / 66 percentile exit velocity - hopefully just bad luck like mcneil.
That I agree with. Smith should be starting against 95%+ of the lefties in the league. Pillar is for the handful of starts against the others or you need the bat in a PH role

point is, it's idiotic to sit Dominic Smith against the Matt Moore's of the world because he's lefty. He handles lefties quite well.

I have zero problem with "Pillar MASHES this lefty, look at the numbers". I have a problem with "this guy is a lefty, time to get Pillar in there". That's what opening day was.
I think you're expecting too much out of Nimmo. His K% was sub 20% last season and has been again so far this year. Pretty rough to both take tons of pitches and strike out less than he does. Only 2 regulars on the team struck out at a lower % than Nimmo last year, McNeil and Cano.
he is just a solid player who won't hurt you too bad with the bat and can play D. If he played every day 2b somewhere I don't think he'd be too far off Wong (except homers).

he swung at a good 2-1 pitch and it was a good 3-2 pitch, but if he can figure out how to waste that pitch and get himself a pitch to drive his game can go up another level. If he can just get his whiffs down a little bit it would make a big difference.

Maybe. Also im not really expecting it, just think that's an area where he can improve. I think as he gets later into at bats he tries to keep his approach the same as earlier in counts when he should trying to play more of a contact game especially in a situation like that with 2 outs and a hit is a run (and a walk isn't).
If you can get 6 innings from your SP in Game 1 of a DH that sets you up nicely for Game 2 because you only then need 5 innings for it to be similar to getting 6 innings from your SP in a regular game.
defense wins championships.

If DH ends up happening next year and a spot opens for McNeil in the OF I'd love to see him get a shot playing next to Lindor. That defense up the middle would be fun.
With how Joe West was squeezing him probably was good to remove him although you prefer 5-6 from him
Video of the play. I assume they said he was off the bag and then tackled but I don't know. I don't have the audio.

Brandon Nimmo has reached base safely at least twice in all six games this season, the other Mets players to accomplish that streak to start a season:
Jose Reyes
David Wright
Jeff Francouer
Mike Cameron
