What is the earliest Jayson Oweh could go?

Judge_and_Jury : 4/13/2021 5:56 pm
Based on all we are hearing it is clear rhat Edge is very high on our list and probably even higher than OL (if grades are close).

Sounds like if Smith should drop his grade is so high based on our board that he'd probably be a tier above almost everyone else.

Let's say the draft breaks our way and Smith makes it to our pick at 11.

If we take Smith , I think we will be ultra motivated to secure one of our top DEs in our board before they dry up.

That would likely mean a trade up from 42 using one or more of the following: Engram, our 3rd (76) or our 4th.

How high up do we need to go to secure Oweh? Or could we wait and he still probably make 42?

think he goes in the mid 20s.
18 or so

If he goes much earlier it's a reach based on his 40 time
You can’t solve all the problems of the team in one draft
BillT : 4/13/2021 6:20 pm : link
We need a top WR, we need another good OL and we need an impact edge. That’s at least one too many needs for one draft. It’s especially too many when WR and edge both probably require 1st round picks to get the kind of impact player we desire at those positions. So, you’re not likely to get both. What you can do is get your top WR and in the 2nd round get a good OL. That’s two of three. That’s not bad.
Joe, what we read is mostly smoke or lies.

We don’t have any info on what is or what isn’t HIGH ON OUR LIST, beyond speculation.

What???
From all I have read...

Oweh could go in the mid-first round.

Where should he go? Mid to late second. His production is just not there.

1 — Edge
2 — OL
3 or later — WR

Very doable given the talent pool at the respective positions, where the Giants are picking, and who is likely to be there.
Could go as high
jeff57 : 4/13/2021 7:44 pm : link
As 18 to Miami.

18 to Miami.... Interesting he may be out of reach for round 2 even via trade up.

Tend to agree. I think he'll easily be a first round player, but that doesn't mean he should be.

who has a background in scouting said of Oweh, "When he steps on an NFL field, he will be one of the five or six best athletes in the league. Not one of the best DEs; one of the best period." That is an intriguing assessment.

So the Giants should return to the Reese/Ross attitude of picking athletes vs football players?
Greg Cosell loves him

he seems intriguing as does his teammate (Toney).
Can't just Draft BODIES
Rafflee : 4/14/2021 6:18 am : link
If you see tremendous production, the Measurables begin to explain WHY. If you're choosing between players, The combine stuff can guide you. Speed and Bench Press etc may explain or point to work ethic and basic talent---but you need to Draft Football Players. I'd sooner use the measurables to Eliminate or force choices on players rather than Elevate them beyond the Football Evaluation.
Theres a few
SleepyOwl : 4/14/2021 8:06 am : link
edges that will be available in the second round. Joseph Assai is a guy that is intriguing. Joe Tryon, Patrick Jones are guys that should be there round 2-3. One guy that I loved in college, and I hope the Giants take a chance, is Dylan Moses. He could probably be had in round 4, and I can see him being an immediate starter at ILB for the Giants.
i want nothing to do with oweh
GiantsFan84 : 4/14/2021 11:09 am : link
he's just an athlete at this point. i'd rather draft a better football player

for every danielle hunter there are lots more mike mamula's.
Earliest?
Thegratefulhead : 4/14/2021 11:15 am : link
He could go us at 11. I don't want that but I understand it could happen because I think all the edge will gone by 42. I think the Giants know this too. I also expect there will be an edge they Giants like more than the others and even though they may feel 11 is too high, I do not think they risk it. I fear an overdraft of an ER at 11 incoming. I think it will be Paye or Ojulari.

You wouldn't take him at 6 but via a trade up into the bottom of 1st or a trade back from 11.

i'd defer to the judgement of coach spencer but football is not about being the best athlete. it's about little things. anticipation, recognition etc. if you are late to recognize something it doesn't matter how fast or strong you are

Well then Paye is the best pick at 11.
