We’re just over two weeks away from the draft, we’ve seen countless mocks from experts and BBI members (including myself).
Two questions. Who do you want the Giants to take and who do you think they will take?
Who do I want? Smith/Waddle
Who will they take?: Slater
Who will they takes? Jaylen Waddle
Waddle
Parsons
Who they take
Ojulari
2. one of the bama guys
2. one of the bama guys
Ha ha, most likely.
Who I want to be available, and likely will be: Surtain
Who I think will be available and who the Giants will take: Waddle
We lead the league in dashed hopes.
Who do I want them to take - but won't be available?: Sewell, Pitts
Who do I want them to take that might be available but Giants will in no way take?: Slater
Who do I think they will take? Kwity Paye.
Who do I think Giants love that is probably higher on their board than Paye - that might be available that I want Giants to take rather than Paye? Smith.
We lead the league in dashed hopes.
I wouldn't be so certain none of those 3 will be available. I really feel that 5 QBs are going off the board in the top 10 (at least 4). I also think Chase is most likely the 1st WR off the board. Pitts, Sewell, Surtain I think also aren't getting out of the top 10. If all that is true it would mean at least 1 or 2 of the names you mentioned (Smith, Waddle, Parsons) will be available at #11. Also a very strong possibility Slater goes in the top 10. I doubt all 3 of them will be available, but I certainly think 1 or 2 of them being available is likely.
#42 -- Wyatt Davis, RG (plug-and-play starting RG to replace Zeitler
#76 -- Brady Christensen, OT (can't hurt to have another swing OT to develop and have for depth)
#116 -- Deyo Odeyingbo, EDGE (I'm biased because I'm a Vandy alum but seriously this guy is one of the more versatile/dynamic defenders in the draft. Also Giants are partial to guys with hard-to-pronounce names.)
#196 -- Shakur Brown, CB (slot corner, can't have enough guys who can cover in today's NFL
#201 -- Patrick Johnson, EDGE (BPA here and even though we already took Odeyingbo earlier can't have enough guys who can rush the passer, especially on this current Giants team)
Wildcard: I would also just like to say: if somehow Trey Sermon is still on the board when the Giants pick in the 4th round, I wouldn't put it past DG to grab him. I think he's gonna be a terrific RB, he serves as a good backup and a guy who will push Barkley, and if he somehow emerges as a solid RB it gives us a good problem with the Barkley decision... I wouldn't put it past DG to be considering this possibility w/ Barkley in his 4th year of his contract. Very few 4th rounders turn out to be starters anyway but if you can steal a solid starting RB who can do it all like Sermon in the 4th round that really could in no way be a bad pick.
Then look at his pro day.
Now remember that this is a position of enormous impact, maybe right after the quarterback.
I think it's fair to move away because of his medical history, but he's got to be in the conversation. He is that good.
And when you evaluate the injuries, note that he played last year, Chase, waddle, and Slater did not.
If healthy, no one, and it's not close, could improve this team as much as jaelan Phillips.
As compelling as that is, I am a fan who emphasizes "safe" with high pics. But I'd be doing my due diligence and meeting with neurosurgeons to review his medical history.
Smith
Slater
Who will they select
Kwity Paye or waddle
Whichever one they don’t take, the Eagles will.
Surtain over Smith? really....
Quote:
I think they'll all be gone and Paye will be the pick. Wild card is Waddle, he screams being the pick but we have not heard his name connected to NYG.

Yep, I've been consistent the talent for the long haul is on defense.
It would be surprising for them to address it again at #11.

God, I hope not. Is it just me or are the Giants always lining up to draft someone who has zero chance at being drafted ahead of their pick? That's the definition of reaching for need. And why we're on the subject, isn't our need for a pass rusher? Excuse me for the lack of excitement for Paye and his whopping 6 sacks. But hey, the guy with 15 sacks who was the consensus top edge rusher when he walked off the field didn't set the world on fire in his 2 minutes in shorts at his pro day. Good grief.
Uber, I think it's clear they've been plugging in the best available at positions of need, including their QB and LT.
Agree 100%.
Michigan played 4 games in 2020.
Agree 100%. Paye would be a good pick at somewhere between 16-20 but not at 11. He is not a top 15 guy in terms of BPA.
And how exactly do you know that? These guys haven't stepped on the NFL field yet.

Is the top pass rusher. He's not.

Last year,I thought they might take Epenesa,we got another Safety.
Rousseau feels very similar to Taco Charlton in that he had good college stats but very little athleticism for the position. People felt that just because he had the measurables he would be successful, as it turns out he had 1 pass rush move and was really stiff. That seems like Rousseau to me. Just a difference of opinion.
Who I think they take is Smith. I think he'll be there at 11.

I would take either of those. Unlike the two people the other two posters are arguing about, both Smith and Waddle have both measurable and a record of production. Not an either or (or just potential)

Come on Jim, at least share your plan.
We certainly don't see one coming from this front office...

Ha ha, most likely.
I’m all in on Waddle... he would help take our Offense to the next level....legit scary WR.... would bring Tyreke Hill type impact to our offense... imagine DC’s game planning for offense?
My first two picks would be Waddle and Wyatt Davis in the 2nd... we’re gonna have to be a bit lucky for both to drop to our respective spots, but it’s not a crazy idea either...after that...Elerson Smith in the 3rd, and the other picks will be icing on the cake.
