59 Joseph Ossai OLB 6-4, 256 4.63 Texas JR

Wyatt Davis and Ossai at 58, 59?!?!? Man I hope we execute a trade down and garner a 2nd pick in this grouping. You have arguably the top C, the top OLB and top DT in this grouping!
And we pick 10th

in round 2
A lot of it is OL
jeff57 : 4/14/2021 11:01 am : link
Which reduces the need for taking someone like Slater at 11. Of course, I’d have no objection to taking OL in the first two rounds. Still the weakest part of the team.
Yup
JonC : 4/14/2021 11:04 am : link
Tryon is my target at #42, Giants like Oweh.

The OL options are interesting too but I'd wait until #74.
The wait

is driving me cray cray

It used to be middle of April!

Tyron is gone by 42, probably Oweh too.
I’d like to see if the Giants could get
Angel Eyes : 4/14/2021 11:08 am : link
Carlos Basham and/or Pat Freiermuth. I like their skillsets, with Basham as a Crash end who can play the run and rush the passer (5 sacks in 7 games last year) and Freiermuth as a two-way tight end who can be mentored by Kyle Rudolph.
I foresee
Thegratefulhead : 4/14/2021 11:08 am : link
A run starting on ER around 15. I think , Ojulari, Oweh, Phillips, Tyron, Rousseau, Paye are all gone between 15 and 42.
Collins too
Thegratefulhead : 4/14/2021 11:09 am : link
It sucks, it is why I fear they reach for Paye at 11. I think they know this.

JonC, so Waddle is not consideration at #11? I really like the idea of either Waddle or Parsons to be the pick in 1st. If it's Parsons then there are two intriguing slot picks at #76, Eskridge or Rodgers. Have you scouted either of them?

You shut your mouth! LOL, let's hope one is there or that DG's willing to trade up for one. This is where I'm ok burning a pick, even two, to move up. My strategy would be to leave this draft with at least one Edge, WR, and OG that I believe are building blocks.

Joe, I'd heard the Giants like all three BAMA prospects, but not much else specific to Waddle. Doesn't mean he's not on their radar tho. If I were to wager, I think the blue chips are gone and we pick Paye. Have not looked at the slots, will check them out.
If Bateman makes it to us in the 2nd
Rudy5757 : 4/14/2021 11:13 am : link
I hope we grab him. I like the way he plays WR.

Paye would be such a reach ugh
I love Travis Etienne
Greg from LI : 4/14/2021 11:20 am : link
I don't see him as a Giants pick, 2nd would be awfully high for a backup to Barkley, but I expect him to be a damned good pro.
With

all of that talent, I really hope we trade down and get an extra day two pick. Some of that second round talent will slip to the third, we only have six total picks, and have a ton of needs. I am also concerned that we will reach for an EDGE at #11, when so many could still be had with a small trade down. My targets after a trade down would be Oweh or Jamin Davis.
If we can get some combination of the following on day 2...
Capt. Don : 4/14/2021 11:37 am : link
Round 2
Dickerson
Tryon
Ossai

Round 3
Kendrick Green
Trey Smith
Peyton Turner

That would allow us to go with a "weapon" at 11.
Is Paye really a reach at 11?
Ron Johnson : 4/14/2021 11:40 am : link
He seems to be rated generally in the 15-16-17 range. There are people who even have him top 10. When I think of a reach I think of them pulling a guy for whom the consensus is much lower. If the Giants like Paye but trade back to 17 there's a good chance they don't get him.

This is a good point and I have considered starting a thread on this topic.

I laugh when people say a guy is a reach at one spot but 5-10 picks later they would be comfortable with it. If someone did an analysis on the "hit rate" difference between 11-20 in round 1, I bet the difference would be negligible.
Paye
ryanmkeane : 4/14/2021 12:05 pm : link
is not a reach at 11. He might not be the player people want with our pick, but he's not a reach

Sy has him tied with Parsons and Surtain at 85 as the best defenders in the draft
Bateman
lugnut : 4/14/2021 12:14 pm : link
seems to have gotten lost in the wash with his opt-out (right?) and all eyes on Smith, Waddle, etc. He was considered the top one or two WR in the draft for a long time until a few months ago, IIRC. I hope he's there for us, but gotta say I don't like the height exaggeration -- he was listed (by U of Minn.? himself?) at 6'2" for the longest time, but now he's been demoted to half a tick over 6'0."

He’s definitely a reach when u have 4 QBs going top ten. He’s not the 7th best position player in the draft. You must likely have one of Parsons waddle smith or Slater sitting there. Picking Paye over any of them is reaching for need.
And yes,
lugnut : 4/14/2021 12:17 pm : link
I agree re the wealth in Rd 2. If we really don't love/need who's there at #11, I would pray DG does the one thing he's never done and trade down somewhat and get a second Rd 2 pick. I'd give my Balzac to get Creed Humphrey on this team.
Oweh
AcidTest : 4/14/2021 12:26 pm : link
won't last until #42. I won't hate Paye at #11, but hope we can do better.
I believe the players we will pick between are these guys
Tuckrule : 4/15/2021 8:40 am : link
Slater
Waddle
Smith
Paye

One of those 4 will be a giant
Paye at #11 is probably a small reach
JonC : 4/15/2021 8:48 am : link
the word the Giants are reportedly looking to have a contingency in place to move down tends to back this up.

That said, if you can't find a deal and here's your BPA, then pick him.
