So I went into a fit of madness and did a full seven round mock draft. I did NOT use a mock draft generator like DraftNetwork or ProFootballFocus. Made every pick myself. Yes, I'm nuts.
I did this based on what I THINK the teams will do, not necessarily what I would WANT them to do.
Disclaimer:
I can't possibly have thoroughly watched all the players. There's 70+ players starting near Rd 5 that I haven't watched at all. In that scenario, I look for reports I can on that player and try and match up play style as well as depth needs for teams to mock.

New York Giants Specific Pick Analysis
Round 1: WR Jaylen Waddle, Alabama
I think the Giants like their OL more than they let on and the only one worth drafting at 11 is Alijah Vera-Tucker in this scenario. I think they'd look at EDGE as a trade down target but then again, Dave Gettleman has never traded down. I do believe some of the smoke that the Giants are fans of the two Alabama receivers. Joe Judge has a connection there and Waddle had to have scored points when he tried to play through injury in the CFB playoffs. He got a clear bill of health and would provide an electric and (key word upcoming) RELIABLE down the field presence to really let this offense shine. Waddle is a tremendous player, and if not for Ja'marr Chase, probably would be WR1 in most draft classes. The Tyreek comps are accurate because he does 3 things really well:
1) 2nd and 3rd gear with deep speed
2) Insane ball tracking while in the air
3) Good, strong contested catch ability.
Round 2: EDGE Jayson Oweh, Penn State
The easy connection here is with DL coach Sean Spence who has taught Oweh in college. That doesn't mean EVERYTHING, however, because they did pass up on Yetur Gross-Matos in favor of Xavier McKinney last year. That being said, Oweh had an insane pro day and the Giants love athletic specimens at linebacker. Patrick Graham will know what to do with him and hopefully he adds some juice to the pass rush. The lack of production is definitely a concern, but he was productive in "hidden" stats such as pressures.
I think #42 overall is probably about right for where his draft stock should be but that athleticism might push him up closer to the end of round 1.
Round 3: OL Trey Smith, Tennessee
I firmly believe that if Smith falls to Day 2 it is because of the health issues. Otherwise, he's got Day 1 talent in my eyes. I went back and forth between drafting him or Aaron Banks but I went with Smith as the better NYG fit. I know Rob Sale went to the ND pro day but the Giants will have the inside scoop on Smith via Jeremy Pruitt.
You look at the relative athletic scores (RAS) of the OL that Dave Gettleman has drafted for NYG, only ONE (Shane Lemeiux) had a RAS lower than 8. Trey Smith is 6'5, 330 pounds and has tackle and guard versatility. His RAS is 9.9! Heard excellent things about football IQ as well.
Round 4: DL Tyler Shelvin, LSU
Let me be the first to say that having 1 year deals with Austin Johnson and Danny Shelton does not mean ignoring defensive tackle. They are the only true 2 gapping 0 techniques on the roster and in this defense, the nose is what makes everything go smoothly and why I was so sad Dalvin Tomlinson was not re-signed.
Good gap plugging thicc bois always fall in the draft because not a ton of teams still employ them. The Giants are one of the few that do and are happy to land Shelvin here. The guy is a fire hydrant and he allowed Jabril Cox and company to roam free because of his ability to control the muck. He can learn and develop his technique behind Shelton this year prior to taking over next year.
Round 6: WR Josh Palmer, Tennessee
More of a pure BPA pick, Palmer would add some depth to the WR room as a contested catch player with some size. Does a really good job high pointing the ball and would be a very nice developmental player behind Kenny Golladay. Athleticism is average but I think that at this point in the draft you go for guys that will contribute on special teams that have upside to get on either offense or defense. Palmer reminds me of 2019 WFT draft pick and former draft crush of mine, Kelvin Harmon.
Round 6: RB Elijah Mitchell, Louisiana-Lafayette
Forget Devontae Booker, the Giants need a developmental running back to take over for Booker to spell Saquon Barkley. Mitchell is an easy choice as he's a player with a good blend of size and speed and Rob Sale was coaching at Louisiana-Lafayette.
FINAL THOUGHTS
My biggest concern was my inability to nab a linebacker to put next to Blake Martinez. In round 1, I considered Zaven Collins and Micah Parsons. In round 2, it was hard to pass up Baron Browning and Jabril Cox, and in round 3, Chazz Surratt would've been a great choice.
I do think I believe the rumors that the Giants want to avoid Parsons and after round 3, it was hard for me to find a LB that would have enough developmental upside to warrant the pick over the other guys I took. I think the Giants drafted a BUNCH (Crowder, Brunson, Brown) to develop inside and adding another 6th round rookie just doesn't really help.
It would have also been nice to tack on another developmental corner but I didn't really find the space to do it. I do think if Patrick Surtain is available that he'd be under consideration but I just went a different direction.
Would love to hear everybody's thoughts.

A quality post??
The guy just mocked an entire draft without knowing jackshit about most of the players. What is the utility in doing that? Why not just take out a fucking dartboard and throw shit at it and post on BBI the results?
When I'm fed Cheerios with piss, I spit them up and complain!
I agree with a good portion of it such as the first few picks.
I think Oweh falling to us in the second might be wishful thinking however.
I also think you could wait until the sixth round to pick up a depth type DT using your own reasoning. Someone like Tonga fro Brigham Young would be a good get in the sixth.
I would prefer using the Jint fourth round choice on another cb. I think the huge dollar investment the Jints have made in FA at corner needs to be hedged and backed up with a quality developmental corner. What happens now should one of our expensive FA corners break a knee in the first week of the season?
I would look at someone like Ambry Thomas cb Mich 4.37 or Kary Vincent cb LSU 4.35 as better value in the fourth then an interior DL or another WR.
Otherwise I like what you have done here.
Ignore the haters

Mock drafts in their very essence are an exercise in futility but if you have a creative mind, are full of utility.
Here's how I would see it:
If someone puts a player on a specific team that I haven't seen before (especially someone who connects with a particular team), it makes me look at that player and try and figure out why that was done. Every draft, you learn more about what traits GMs are looking for and scheme specific traits in players.
Mock drafts also allow you to get exposed to players that you may not exactly know about. There were a lot of players when I was looking at databases that I ended up learning more about. Sometimes it's cool (if useless) info like the fact that Zaven Collins was a pre-med major.
Doing this exercise also gave me an idea of how the depth charts and developmental needs of other teams were. That in turn can help you try and figure out what positions you need to address early and what positions you can afford to wait on based on predicting what other teams may do.
And the biggest reason to do mocks, including all of the above, is to spark discussion because, guess what, we're on a message board!
The reason I spent time trying hard to mock all the rounds is for people to see who was available instead and that sparks discussion as well. This is better than those crazy mock draft generators that have some nutty player drops.
And I'd like to think I provided some new information. Did you really know prior to this what the RAS scores were for Dave G's NYG OLmen drafted?
As this is an internet message forum, I am completely prepared for you to respond with "didn't read, lol" or just not respond at all, but either way, I appreciate you stopping by and clicking.
Having done so many of their mocks, they have some truly ridiculous things happening like Penei Sewell dropping to the 20s in 1 mock I did.
I wanted to get rid of the computer and try and do this as "real world" as possible and put my GM hat on with the Ourlads depth chart open to try and figure out where to go with these picks.
But yeah, I'm crazy :)
I disagree. Pitts impacts that team more than any other player at 10 can do for them. They can spend the entire rest of the draft on defense.
The way I saw it for Dallas was Jerry Jones wants to go all in this year in a weak NFC East. I feel like he thinks the OL is good for this year and wants to overload on offense with Dak to show the NFL that he was justified in giving that contract.
I agree with a good portion of it such as the first few picks.

Thanks!
You might be right. The 4th round pick is the trickiest one because you still have starting potential talent falling but you're not sure where they are going with it.
I strongly think the first 3 rounds will be "playmaker", OL, EDGE in some order.
I plan on it
The rest was a lot of player names on a page from a useless exercise.
What an absolute miserable loser you are lol
Definitely a ton of risk and I factored that in but you look at the fact that the Giants have coaching staff from Alabama, Tennessee, and Penn State that know these guys so that mitigates it somewhat.
All three are high character guys from what I understand and I get the feeling they are okay with risk (to a degree) given they signed Adoree and Golladay to big money
And by the way, both of your 6th round picks (Palmer and Mitchell) have enough talent that they could actually go a few rounds earlier. Have heard really good things on both guys.
And ignore the rude poster above only looking to criticize from thread to thread.
We should never slag our brothers and sisters on the site for giving us their opinion and opinion on the draft.
Whatever you all think, this is well done!
I applaud you KSIXI!
I agree that mock draft simulators just don't really do it. I've been doing a lot of them and they always have great players drop way too far, so they become kind of 'automatic' picks, which feels like cheating.
I just did a mock at PFN and PFF:
16. Devonta Smith (traded down)
42. Jaelen Phillips
49. Trey Smith (the pick I acquired in the trade down)
76. Quin Meinerz
116. Chazz Surrat
196. Benjamin St Juste (lol)
201. Javian Hawkins
PFF:
11. Waddle
42. Leatherwood
76. Tryon (lol)
116. Shelvin
196. Dylan Moses
201. Jarret Patterson
Mock draft simulators are pretty useless.
In PFN's simulator I just got Smith at 16 after trading down, Phillips at 42, Trey Smith at 49, Quin Meinerz at 76, CHazz Surrat at 116 and Benjamin St Juste at

Should have removed that last part. Decided to change the formatting but forgot to delete.
That would be a pretty good haul.
If that was our draft I would be very very happy with it.

Yeah, FatMan has been is a losing streak lately like when he told me that UCLA's incredible run the the NCAA's meant nothing. Except for the fact that they have been beating off highly rated recruits wanting to get in with a stick since then.

don't worry, that dude is a huge (fat even?) dick
Really nice effort man, and I would totally dig most of your NYG draft choices! good job bro...all that fat fuck contributes is his misery...been doing it so long, I don't believe he knows any other way to be...
Typically you get short blurbs in posts about why players are liked but you went the whole 9-yards with your comments.
Look forward to more!
One specific question: how do you get to a Trey Smith’s RAS score? If that is correct, he may be the 2nd rounder.
About FatMan, I am still puzzled about how he hadn’t been banned yet.
Rnargi - care to explain your reasoning about FMiC?
Biggest reason is that he was Joe Burrow's biggest weapon in college. I know they have issues with protection but I think they will try and get Joe Burrow a player he has familiarity with.
