The ONLY bad choice of those options is Parsons. I’m done after the BS with Baker. A scout mentioned on a pod Parsons can be in real trouble, not worth that risk. Slater protects both Jones and Barkley future, Waddle or Smith helps Jones big time in passing game and helps Barkley as having 2 very good WRs will limit defenses from stacking the box. Parsons is NOT as fast as his false pro day time.
Then I wouldn't mind if Giants used every other remaining pick on an Offensive Lineman with a shifty RB sprinkled in there somewhere.
Trade Evan Engram for an extra pick during the Day 1 of the draft and use it on a tall Tight End that can develop behind Rudolph.
And folks, that would have the Offense catching up to how you win in the NFL pretty soon.
I doubt Engram brings back a first-rounder, even #32 overall from Tampa. There'd have to be a bigger package.
As much as a lot of BBIers hate Engram, he's probably more valuable on the team than as a trade asset. He's not going to bring back much for a number of reasons that aren't even his fault: He's several years into his career, he's not a premium position even if he did make the Pro Bowl, he's on the final year of his deal. Basically, why trade much for 1-year rental, even if you believe in him (more than BBIers do)?
RE: RE: RE: If it goes like that, no one will be interested in trading up to #11
Yup. Part of me hopes a QB falls to 11, and the Pats want to trade up with us for #15
Tend to agree, but someone might trade up for Smith or Slater. The Giants of course might want either for themselves, but I could see it happening.
Ur right, that is the big question. You figure SD & Minn will split OL & LB & Phil. a WR. So if we really want somebody sitting there send in the card or roll the dice on 15?
I'd gamble.
can be found in the third and fourth rounds. Maybe even later. But defensive ones in this draft cluster in the first and second. I hope we go D early and O the rest of the way.

Whoa nellie! Nobody said first round pick for Engram. I said trade him for a pick to use on a developmental TE...so more like he fetches a 3rd/4th at best.
And you trade him because a) he isn't worth $6M this year and that will pay for the rookies b) we are never going to extend him next year and c) once we add Smith and another TE how many guys do we really need as targets?
Thats an icredible job of getting open and making the catch, but it aint gonna happen like that in the League. That corner isnt going to bite on that move and a reading safety is going to lay the wood on the backend.
I dont mind Smith as the pick and think he'll be good as a wr, but that play aint gon fly in the nfl
Well, if you look a little closer you will see that
the Corner actually didn't really bite on the move and the Safety was in no position to lay the wood because where the play went in the back edge of the end zone.
Smith just made the play because he was faster, more athletic and had better reaction times than anybody in that Secondary.
Take the OL. You can't hit WRs when you're running for your life.
Same take mostly. OL I'd be 100% ok with (Slater or equal), even though I think Parsons would have the most potential at the pick and should be an impact player at the position(s) right away (despite his possible "character" issues).
Our WR's will have a new look and be much improved. They got rid of some trash and added several likely impact players with receiving ability -- let's see how they look and let'em earn their paychecks. This is one of those years I think taking a need position takes a little more precedence over BPA - just to either sure up the OL or Defense side.
This is only a reality if the Giants draft board aligns with how we here at BBI see the players going - pundits as well for that matter.
For ten years we have watch the Giants flounder with a crappy OL. There is no greater imperative for this team than give Jones time and Barkley holes. In this scenario the only two options that make sense are Slater or Parsons. And Parsons only if background checks out and you think you have the OL set.
but not nearly the can't miss guy many of you are acting like. We can get guards in rds 2-4 but if Smith and Waddle are there you have to take them.
SS is a concussion away from being done. Slayton has to prove he is better than his Soph. year and that it was just injuries and a lack of talent elsewhere and not that the league took him seriously and figured him out.
Ross is a swing in the dark hoping for the best.
If we can get Smith at 11 (and not via a move up) then the talent and position in the round dictate we have to take him.
Giants would have their pick of Slater, Waddle, Smith, Parsons. I think all would really help. Dont know if they could trade down just 4 spots, but if you could, you'd still get one of those 4!
next off-season, so I think WR would be a nice pick in that spot.
I think this is another part of the consideration for #11. Having possibly Smith and/or Waddle available this year might tilt the scale towards taking a WR!
I'd be happy with any of them.

Yup true...in the end, if we have conviction in a guy, take him. We’re getting a really good football player at 11.
If it were me, I’d take Smith...

Parsons, Slater, Smith, Waddle, WHATEVER, sign me up for any of them.

No, you wouldn't really get sick until they go running past Jackson or Bradberry for a 60 yard TD sometime next fall.
Praying that it falls this way.
