If I’m reading Sy’s evaluation of the interior line correctly, and I think I am, there are very few linemen who can step right in and start from day 1. In fact, based on his scores, only the top 3 would help this year from the start. Looks like 5 would help this year if they were rotated in by the end of the year. And a good number are shown as possible starters down the road I guess.
So, all this talk about getting starters as late as the 3rd round doesn’t line up with Sy’s ratings unless we assume that the Giants OL has so many holes that a lower grade could be better than what we have. Maybe it’s only one of the top 3 players who would make a big difference.
The good news....the Giants do not have many spots rookies that can step right in to start..
Guards and OLB is probably it.
Many posters think that edge is the big need but I would say if Smith or Waddle has by far the best value maybe the giants go there, otherwise needs to be O line
