Had posted in here a month ago when it launched for WFAN.com, but now you can subscribe to that without subscribing to WFAN audio if anyone is interested. Gave my thoughts on not forcing O Line in round 1 on This weeks.
Would really love post draft, pre-camp topics for weekly episodes from other Giants fans if anyone has some good thoughts. The podcast is for Giants fans by a Giants fan as I like to say. The more traction it gets the better it will be for Giants talk on WFAN continuing to grow as it should.
Thanks all! And by all means if you hate me, think I suck, think my opinions suck, that is all good and part of the deal I get it.
G-Whiz, NY Giants podcast - (
New Window )
Eighteen years ago, I showed up here and invited the community to check out my blog on nj.com. The initial reception was predictably - and rightly - chilly. I had been on BBI for a few years at the time, but had contributed little and had just re-registered with a new handle reflecting my Star-Ledger gig.
Internet etiquette was still evolving, but every community has its norms, and you have to read the room. In 2021, the etiquette is pretty well established. Eric won’t call you out for it - he’s generous to a fault. But as a matter of self-interest, you will have better luck drawing BBI’ers to your pod if you respect the territory.
You left off my favorite player in the draft: Micah Parsons.
With all these QB’s being targeted he is projected anywhere from 8 to 15. He fits value and he can play any of the LB spots. We need speed and some nasty to bring our defense to an elite level. Our secondary is deep and the D Line is very good we need to add a top end LB. Parsons was recruited to PSU as an Edge Rusher and moved to LB out of need. Our D Line coach Spencer was the guy that recruited him.
What are your thoughts on Micah?

Micha would make this defense very elite, my issue is his hazing incident still. Not that his coach isn't here, or that he can't get past what may or may not have been something. But Can DG in a make or break year for him risk any trouble whatsoever after Deandre Baker? I don't think he can use a 1st round pick on anyone with any sort of blemish off the field.
Haha, very true
1) Diehl isn't a good comp for Slater. DD was built like a tackle. He struggled outside because of slow feet, but his body said OT all the way. Slater is more like Justin Pugh: tackle feet, but too short-armed to project well to OT at the next level.
2) Fifth-round picks shouldn't be counted on for anything. Lemieux might be a player, he might not. If the staff thinks he has a future, great; but the draft capital invested in him is close to zero, and shouldn't influence any decisions, in the draft or elsewhere. I might even go a step further, and say a supplemental third-rounder like Peart shouldn't affect the Giants' thinking, unless he has earned a place in the plan since joining the team.
That said, I agree with you about the need for help on the edge, and the logic of trading down.
