that there was ‘ mutual interest’.
My guess is McCourty was doing some shopping around, and found little to no other interest, while the Giants had preliminary $$$ talks with him and were shopping for cap space if his full availability became a reality and he passed the tryout and physical.
Is on the chopping block to make room for him and the draft picks?
34 year’s old..Pass
What if he has another good year in him? WHy pass? Our 4th corner is basically me. You don't want me as the 4th corner.
We’ve been told by many on here that we have many holes, are not close to contending (as they dismiss winning our “weak” division as us not being real contenders) and only teams that are missing that one vet signing can sign a 34 year-old..
He's being asked to be a depth piece, contribute on ST and bring a winning and hard working mentality. I'm all for it. Amazing how much more depth this team has in the defensive backfield vs. 2018

don't have much of a leg to stand on, or a head to stand on, and I like the RJ Sam Madison prism. I'd still rather sign the competent guard we all wanted Giants to sign, who's still out there, isn't he?
To me, that would really open up the draft to interesting picks.
The man is a football player and totally fundamentally sound

Trai Turner?
why wouldn't you bring him in if the price is right?

Sam Madison come to mind as old defensive backs that joined the Giants and were valuable contributors. Assume you are contending each year. The NFL is an interesting league in regards to teams cooking out of nowhere to compete.
He and his brother played for St. Joe’s in Montvale. High caliber character guy, experienced pro, great locker room presence. No brainer at the right price.
This would be an excellent move. I fervently want to see the Giants draft great and supplement with young, second contract players who are ascending talents, about to bust out. But, I think you also have to sprinkle in enough high character experienced professionals who can mentor the young guys. If they can still play. No Jonathan Stewarts. No Antoine Betheas.
McCourty would be beneficial for Bradberry and Jackson to have around for advice. McCourty knows his role and he sounds ready for it, he also likes Joe Judge. I'm sure Graham would love to have him around as well.
Everson Walls. A player that lead, taught, & played by example. A great S.B. run with the G-Men, and then he rode ooff into the proverbial sunset. I still remember him ensconced within a confetti cloud, and subsequently gracing the front page of “Sports Illustrated,” with his arms held high to the sky. What a year for the Man as well as the team. He had a year similar to that of Cory (sp.) Webster, during his SB year with the team. Unlike Webster, Everson played 12 plus years for Dallas, and IIRC, was let go when J.J. took hold of the steering wall.

You wouldn't rather McCourty over Isaac Yiadom?
Sam Beal and Issac Yiadom....

If it is why don’t they say so?
+1
And why is that?? Have you seen any evidence or just some speculation in a news rag?
Beal is a camp body at this point, nothing more.

More ridiculous claims from someone well outside of the know.

But there is virtually no way this guy makes the team. He hasn’t played since the late 80s and was nothing special when he did play.

Are you any more in the know than any of us?

So, why bother signing him then?
Or another Bethea, which would suck.

My thoughts exactly
Thats why this is a ideal move

Besides that all else is pointless.
More likely he pulled a hammy getting up to answer it.
lol, you don't bring in guys in their mid-thirties for special teams...

Exactly. Age means nothing, if you can contribute you belong, bottom line.
This team has been talent deficient for a long time. They just released a CB. Bring him in!
Doesn't seem like the kind of guy that loves/likes football... somewhere JJ said that he valued guys that love the game.
An old boss of mine once said that you can be a victim, or make yourself a victim. Beal seems to be in the latter category.

Weird comment to make given who our HC is.
