They're losing 2-0 to the Devil Rays. I'm too lazy to post lineups and shit.
King is pitching for the Yankees and Walcha Walcha Walcha is on the mound for the Devil Rays. King just hit another Devil Ray and they're pissed. Wouldn't mind seeing a brawl or maybe a bat to Kevin Cash's melon head.

instead, and it looks like I chose....wisely.
I watched the first iteration the other day. Highly underrated movie. Tour de force for Wilson.
The first Behind Enemy Lines was good, and probably Wilson's best role.
This year's Yanks - unwatchable for me so far. Hopefully that changes.
Hitting...we all know the problems. Batting averages...yuk.
Base running...they make high school level mistakes.
Defense...they are about one error per game. 5th worst in league.
Coaching...I would put Boone as one of the worst coaches in the league.
I know hitting into double plays, giving up bloop singles, sometimes that is 'just baseball'.
But the alarming topics are the contracts (Hicks, Stanton, Judge coming up), and the production from those contracts. Besides Cole, are they set up for quite a few years of mediocrity? Win 90 ish games by beating up marginal teams, then bow out of the playoffs early when faced with a string of good pitchers?
I am worried short-term because hardly anyone is playing well. (When does 'oh, it's early' turn into 'oh shit'?) But the long-term future feels like a much greater 'gathering storm'. I never thought I would look more forward to the Knicks game rather than the Yankees?!
Here is what I'd do - my opinion as fan who has watched the Yankees everyday for a long time. Worth the cyber paper it's written on.
No more scholarships or contracts factored into playing time. This has been a stale team since 2019 ended.
As far as the pitching goes I think there aren't any options for the next 60-90 days. Keep giving Kluber & Taillon their turns and hope its rust that comes off quickly. I wouldn't call up Garcia yet. I think it's better to save his innings for later in the year.
For the position players here are my ideas:
1. I would call back Wade and make him the everyday SS. Release Bruce. I know he hits like an NL pitcher I don't care. Bat him 9th, pinch hit for him if you have to, sit him against the best lefties. SS is his best defensive position and he's better than league average. Bad SS defense and bad defensive period is really hurting an already shaky pitching staff. I know they're struggling to score runs right now but they can't keep playing Torres at SS. I have confidence the offense on the rest of the team will be there over the long season.
2. Move Torres to 2B. Maybe it will help him at the plate too. It's his best and really only defensive position.
3. DJ is the everyday 1B until Voit comes back and forces changes.
4. Have Higashioka catch Kluber & Taillon along with Cole at the minimum. The Yankees are better team when he is catcher period.
5. Platoon Tauchman with Hicks at the leadoff spot. Hicks plays vs lefties. Tauchman plays vs righties.
Hicks/Tauchman CF
DJ 1B
Judge RF
Frazier - I know he's not hitting but he will LF
Stanton DH
Torres 2B
Gio 3B
Higashioka C
Wade SS
Would be my lineup
If this team underperforms this year, well Boone may be shown the door. He wasn't given an extension in the offseason,
they just picked up his option for this year.
His pollyannish routine is starting to wear a bit thin.
Not that he is totally to blame, look at how Cashman assembled this starting rotation.
I mean 60% of the rotation has thrown a grand total of one inning as an aggregate in the last year (that includes German).
So far, it is not working.
I don't think Didi would make too much of a difference. (I was crushed when they let him go though.) I know he was a great leader and personality for their dugout, but the problems run too deep and wide. For the most part, no one, no one, is hitting. That would cover sometimes for marginal pitching and a few errors.
For the long term, have we over rated many of these players? Whether it is a ROTY (Judge), MVP (Stanton), a year or two of production (Torres, Sanchez)...we keep saying "great players"... But are they? Sample size overall is pretty small to knight them "Great Player" status.
Yep. It’s sad when the lineup is determined by your salary.
I haven't see a Yankees team that takes fastballs in the zone like this one. Way too much talent not to be hitting.
(Although Mel Hall is probably today capable of a better at bay than Aaro Hicks.)
This is Cashman mess and his alone . Boone should be fired because he is not inspiring any confidence as a leader right now but the offense being lifeless and the Starting pitching being terrible is out of his control
I tried folks. That was probably his worst AB of the season.
I wish Cashman and his analytical nerds would answer that . They fucking kill every rally it's infuriating

Instead, we have Poon sitting there like a beaten man offering useless platitudes and pathetic excuses.

I watched the Padres/Dodgers game last night. Those 2 teams are in a different stratosphere then the Yankees , it felt like i was watching a different sport
Just watch TB, they are light years better then the Yanks...

TB is 3-7 when they don't play the Yankees.
4-1 vs the Yankees
They aren't that good. The Yankees just suck
I remember that. Torre’s job was in jeopardy after a loss in Seattle I think they were 1-4 and then they came out the next night scored 6 in the first inning and the rest is history. That won’t be happening for this team.

Two pitchers on the Jays yanks sure could use. not signing Ryu last offseason was dumb and look how well Matz is doing for them. Should of made a trade with the Mets
I disagree with your initial point. They’re going to hit eventually. I wouldn’t be shocked if they had 6-8 weeks during the summer where they go crazy and win a bunch of games. But I don’t see (and I didn’t before the season) how this year ends differently than the past 4-5 with essentially the same players who struggle to make contact in big spots. That’s why I was less enthusiastic about the season than any I can remember since the late 80s, early 90s.
But, he’s not going anywhere, I don’t think Hal wants the responsibility of choosing the next GM. The only scenario where he is pressured to do something is if the Mets perform overwhelmingly better under Cohen and steal the spotlight from the Yanks.
Listen, I am not saying this team on paper should be a sub .500 team, but the philosophy with which they are built just isn’t conducive to winning October baseball. We all know that, why do Cashman and his analytics squad keep bashing their heads against the wall year after year?

but unless things drastically change they're not a World Series contender

They're going to have a period where the bats come alive but after Cole, who is going to win games for them on the mound? Tanaka is no longer on the team and he's way better than the other starters we have who aren't Cole

Nevin is manager in May
