I’m not delusional. The Knicks are not about a “big three.” Julius Randle is our “LeBron” and he is carrying the team on his back. Noel may be the best defensive player in the league. But there is a unity to this team and they play a throwback style of basketball that is unique to these times. They are tough, dangerous and starting to score more consistently.
I now expect them to give any team they play in the playoffs a tough time - and that includes the Nets.
As long as they close things out and get to the playoffs.
Lots of fun watching them for the first time in forever.
Imagine if they got a star next to Rose and Rose didnt get hurt...that team was so good

Yeah, I'm good with Rose. And he & Thibs...it works. I think a lot of people piss on Thibs about how his time in Chicago ended, but some of those Bulls teams were damn good, including the '11-'12 version where D-Rose got injured in Game 1 of the first round vs. 76ers.

I saw that Bulls team in person. The Cs ended up in the ECF that spring vs. Miami. Chicago was much, much better. And the Cs pushed the Heat to 7. If I remember, LBJ went apeshit in Game 6 when Miami was down 3-2.
Yes! Go Dubs!

I saw someone on this board (and a few others agree) that they'd like to see Mike Conley on this team next year in somewhat the same role as Derrick Rose (veteran guard off the bench). My question is: why wouldn't Derrick Rose play the Derrick Rose role next year? I would really love Derrick Rose to stay on this team for 2022. (Unless the person(s) who said that were meaning having both Conley AND Rose next year??)
I have no idea why you would want MC over DR next year. MC is better from three is allI got. Derrick Rose is literally better in every other aspect
Agreed, chop, I just didn't get it at all. I'd honestly be happy to see DR finish his career here, for however long that is. I think we got a steal by bringing him here. I meshes perfectly with Thibs and honestly still has a lot of juice left as long as he's in the right situation. It's amazing watching him play sometimes, we forget that if it had not been for those brutal injuries that slowed him down he would be one of the great guards of all time, but it's nice to see those skills are still intact even if physically he's not all there like he used to be. That said-- I think as long as he's coming off the bench and preserving himself physically he can still be a huge difference-maker in this league.
As much as many hate it, that mid range jumper is just a shot that isnt defended any more! Lol.
And he doesnt take it a ton, but when teams give it to you, and you can hit it, it changes their philosophy.
Need at least 2 more pieces, but this team is a scary playoff opponent because of their D. Bullock looked GREAT last night.
I think Thibs needs to be in the right setting to work, and I think this current Knicks team is exactly that right setting. He gives off vibes of a no-nonsense college coach, which works if you have a team full of young, humble, and hungry players. That's why I think his style is working here. He possibly wouldn't work as well on a team of superstar diva vets (like the Nets for instance). Guys who are already self-motivated and know what it takes to win in the NBA are less likely to listen to a guy like Thibs yell at them to get back on defense.
Jimmy Butler famously said Thibs's "yelling style" doesn't work in the NBA. BUT-- IMO there's still very much a place in the NBA for a "leader-of-men" of Thibs's nature. Hell-- obviously he knows something about what the hell he's doing given he has the #1 defense in the NBA right now, and the Knicks are one of the more cohesive groups in the league-- everyone talks about how much of a real "team" they are. There's real value to that that I think Thibs deserves credit for it.
(Just to note-- I know D Rose isn't a young guy, but he is obviously a humble and no-nonsense dude himself and I think that's why he works w/ Thibs too. I'm just imagining Thibs w/ the Nets: I can't imagine Kyrie, KD, and Harden responding well to Thibs's coaching style, honestly all 3 of them strike me as a little too sensitive... but that's fine, everyone's different.)

Zero chance he would work in Brooklyn, You think Kyrie would listen to Thibs all game? thr same Kyrie who said they were all the coach..
You really need the right players for Thibs to work..
Stars that just want to go out and play wojld not work..
You didn't like watching the early/mid '90s Knicks? I find that very odd. Those teams were great.

since the days of Willis Reed. So hard working, so unselfish, outplaying their opponents night after night.

Early-mid 90s Knicks can be thanked for my Knick fandom to this day. I also liked the Allan Houston, Sprewell, LJ, Camby Knicks (especially when Ewing was the old head still banging in the paint).
Hell— I still to this day wish the Melo, Stoudemire, Chandler Knicks had beaten the Pacers and gone further in the playoffs. But I guess there was really no way they were beating that Heat team anyway.
I have loved Steph going back to Davidson. He's the best shooter I've ever seen. And the fact that he's not an imposing dude...one can envision themselves in him. & that's why I hated when KD joined them & they became a super team because I loved rooting for him.

legit contender in rd 1. They play hard, they lock down on D. Randle is a legit star, and RJ has improved dramatically. They need a #1, but the direction the franchise is in now will attract the big guns.
I think a team like the Nets would want no part kf playing the Knicms, ultimately thr Nets would win but Knicms would fight them tooth and nail..
Sixers i dont think would mind as much, they like that style..
Bucks i dont know, Giannis sure would have to work though
Knicks would be a huge problem for the bucks in a playoff series. I’d love to see that come to be.
