Based on Sy's grades who are guys that are likely to be in play at 42 that have OG versatility:
Round 2:
Leatherwood
Radunz
Eichenberg
Dickerson
Wyatt Davis
Humphrey (maybe OC only)
Spencer Brown? (OG versatile?)
Round 3/4:
D'Ante Smith
Aaron Brooks (maybe not a fit for new regime)
Trey Smith
Alaric Jackson
Quinn Meinerz
Robert Jones
Am I missing anyone?
As I wrote a few times in this preview, I am very curious to see how NYG approaches this interior offensive line class. Gettleman loves the big maulers with heavy hands and to a fault, will overlook movement issues at the position. Jason Garrett has always wanted his guard to seamlessly pull laterally seamlessly with good body control and coordination. I think it is pretty clear this group needs to add a rookie inside. Will it be a mauler? There are plenty in this class. Or will it be more of an athlete? The supply there is a little less. Another question will be how they address Nick Gates and his versatility. This is an unusually strong OC class. Perhaps the value could be there and NYG could move Gates to one of the guard spots? A lot to think about with this trio and whatever they end up doing, they need to at least hit a double. No more strikeouts on the offensive line in the draft. I can see them using the #11 pick on a lineman and if Penei Sewell falls, things can get really interesting. I can see Slater and Vera-Tucker being in the discussion as well. What do I think will happen? I see a day two pick being used on a guard like Quinn Meinerz or Wyatt Davis. If the value isn’t there or they’re off the board, I think it will be an early day 3 pick like Josh Myers, Robert Jones, or Trey Hill.

Good catch...need to add Meyers/Hill

Add day 3 pick Aaron Banks for consideration
The first round pick will be either a WR, LB or Edge.
Sy obviously likes Spencer Brown a lot, but Brown doesn’t appear to have the level of positional versatility needed if you accept Sy’s premise that the top 3 OT jobs are set for this year. His review seemed to point more toward somebody like Alaric Jackson.

Agreed.
Yet if he drops a bit who knows. Leatherwood does standout but he may not make 42. I think there maybe a run on OL 33-41
I‘be got my eye on Trey Smith or Ben Cleveland in round 3
First 2 rounds I think WR, LB/Edge make the most sense for likely value and talent at our slot. Although the way the Giants addresses FA they are really open to truly go BPA; even though they do still desperately need Edge rushers.
I have hope that both Lemieux and Peart take the next step and prove themselves capable starters. I think they are looking more so inline to get a replacement for Hernandez after this year, I just don’t think he is a fit for this offense and while an ok player just think he hasn’t played up to his draft status even despite the carousel of players and coaches he has had to play with so far.
I hope they get one or two guys end of day 2 and 3 to develop as backups/replacements for the next year when we are likely parting ways with Hernandez and Solder. I’d rather see them emphasis drafting Edge and LBers though and truly bring this defense into a dominant unit. They need to draft a RB as well, really hoping someone like Trey Sermon falls to them with their limited draft picks. So my positions of target would be 2 edge, 2 OL and two skill players with our 6 picks. Use UDFA to bring in some young DT depth, secondary depth, and more RB competition.
.
Well said. I think Hernandez might be one of those guys that becomes a steal second contract guy for someone, but he's clearly not a fit for what this offense or what Judge wants to do. Of course we'll have people pissing and moaning about not using the player right or whatever. But you can't build around the strengths of weaknesses of 5 different lineman. You draft guys here that fit the scheme.
Yeah, these reviews on Davis are damning.
I am heading to UGA next weekend. Will get some feedback on how active Giants have been with prospects here since pro day...
I‘be got my eye on Trey Smith or Ben Cleveland in round 3
Depends on if they go Sewell rd 1. If not almost assuredly they'll go OL at 38

Leatherwood stands out to me so does Radunz and Eichenberg as an OG fit with OT versatility.

By the Bengals. They’ll try him at tackle.

I think if Sewell is there at #5 they run to the podium.
