Although I wonder if McNeil and/or Davis will be out for Game 2 because of how Guillorme is hitting and Villar is 4 for 7 against Gonzalez (Game 2 starter). I also might have considered Nido in Game 1 only because that really would leave a bunch of back-ups in the Game 2 lineup
LF Brandon Nimmo
SS Francisco Lindor
RF Michael Conforto

2B Jeff McNeil
3B Jonathan Villar
CF Kevin Pillar
C Tomas Nido

ZGiants, are you really that confident in this group? I hope so, but not sure I see it. Lots of off-days and 7-inning games have kept us from having to go deep in the pen. I worry when that changes. Of course, getting Lugo back will help.

As few of innings as we've pitched we were 8th in fWAR heading into today with about a THIRD of the innings as the top teams. Castro, May, Diaz, and Loup have looked great. And even Familia looks too have re-found himself!
People just really underestimate how the rest of the world views these guys mainly because of 2019.
FG had the Mets having the second best bullpen in baseball prior to the season, and then they moved it to #1 when the Yanks lost Wilson for a bit.
That's all on the heals of two guys... May and Diaz.
Its not a stretch to think at least those two are going to be good this year and if they are, everything will fall into place. Guys like Familia doing well is just gravy.
Im not trying to say its perfect. We'll blow some games this year. But its amazing how bad bullpens are all around baseball. When you really dive into other team's rosters, most teams are lucky to have two quality guys, let alone 8.
Im very bullish on our pen. I think it does finish top 5-ish. We'll see.
Looks like this second game is a dud. Bats are ready to go to the hotel.
Dude literally did everything possible to lose this second game. Its a 1 run game and he's just casually trying to get everyone work. First Gsellman, then Barnes. When Barnes was in trouble... not only does he leave him in but he has Hildenberger and Tarpley warming up. Are you effing kidding me??
Our whole pen is rested. Loup, May, Castro, and Familia....
but you’re in a tough spot with their doubleheaders and postponed games, you have to get some bullpen work for tonight’s game and just call it a wash today and then have Stroman and your best bullpen guys for tomorrow. I actually think it was a smart move.

They got down 3-0 early, he played it right
Completely disagree. You haven't used your pen since last Wednesday and you have ANOTHEWR off day this Monday and possibly Tuesday as well. Absolutely fine giving Gsellman an inning, but once it became a one run game, you HAVE to shift gears. Rojas had zero intention of going to his better relievers in that game. He was going Gsellman, Barnes, Hildenberger, and then Tarpley no matter what.
Awful awful job. Castro, Loup, May, and Familia were fully rested.
Technically second although it was only together for 2 innings. Lol
he's at 68 pitches through 5 so he has a chance to get through it but odds are against it if he's capped at 100.
Quote:
has a no-hitter through 5 innings in KC, he's off to a solid start to his Bluejays career.

jinxed him, no-no and shutout gone.
Rinse, repeat.
It’s not an earned run. Will be corrected.
Yes, because if McNeil made the out, the SF would be out #3
You have to wonder if i ever weighs on deGrom
We’re only going to get stronger as we add Thor, Carrasco and Lugo!
LFGM!
On to game 2.

Castro has saved our asses and was called on to pitch two entire innings in our last double header.
He has a 3.86 ERA but has a 1.21 FIP, 11.57 k/9 and 1.93 BB/9. This on the heals on being lights out all ST.
Castro has been electric IMO. But again, we dont even need him to be.

Let’s win the series tomorrow and get out of there. Coors field games are always really weird and I’m happy to get the team out of there.
