it's going to be 36 degrees at game time?

Something like that.
ZGiants98 : 4/17/2021 2:51 pm : link
Will definitely be in the mid to low 30s for the second one.
Well this is the lineup

we all want (1st time?), hope they get some runs for Jake.
Ideal line-up
Mike in NY : 4/17/2021 3:02 pm : link
Although I wonder if McNeil and/or Davis will be out for Game 2 because of how Guillorme is hitting and Villar is 4 for 7 against Gonzalez (Game 2 starter). I also might have considered Nido in Game 1 only because that really would leave a bunch of back-ups in the Game 2 lineup

Technically second although it was only together for 2 innings. Lol

Any easier to pitch in coors?
Matz

has a no-hitter through 5 innings in KC, he's off to a solid start to his Bluejays career.

he's at 68 pitches through 5 so he has a chance to get through it but odds are against it if he's capped at 100.

Was a joke going around today. Jake can pitch game one and start game 2

I know getting a no-hitter is a total crapshoot most of the time, but

I really hope Jake can get one at some point.
Good lord, deGrom is God

It’s not an earned run. Will be corrected.
And this team ALWAYS takes the fun out of deGrom starts
CooperDash : 4/17/2021 6:52 pm : link
Hope the HOF grants leniency on the fact that Jake has had to play for the Mets his entire career.

Not a Mets fan, but have cousins who are/text about them all the time & the whole deGrom thing...it's just so weird & confusing.
Villar has been so clutch

Amazing signing.
Let’s go boys!

Do it for Jake!
Villar!

He has been clutch for them so far
Nimmo is unreal
KDavies : 4/17/2021 7:21 pm : link
I sign him over Conforto. I want both, but Nimmo will be cheaper and is a much better value. He has just blossomed.

Don’t want to speak too soon but this team looks good guys...
Chris684 : 4/17/2021 7:43 pm : link
They haven’t really started hitting yet but contributions up and down the lineup and bench to guys like McCann and Villar.

We’re only going to get stronger as we add Thor, Carrasco and Lugo!

LFGM!
They are 6-3
KDavies : 4/17/2021 7:48 pm : link
with 2 SPs out, and Nimmo the only one really hitting consistently.
Diaz is pure filth.
ZGiants98 : 4/17/2021 7:57 pm : link
Mets pen has been incredible and will continue to be.

On to game 2.
Lunch pail type of team right now. Grinding it out.
CooperDash : 4/17/2021 7:57 pm : link
Glad they could eke out a win with Jake on the bump.

ZGiants, are you really that confident in this group? I hope so, but not sure I see it. Lots of off-days and 7-inning games have kept us from having to go deep in the pen. I worry when that changes. Of course, getting Lugo back will help.

As few of innings as we've pitched we were 8th in fWAR heading into today with about a THIRD of the innings as the top teams. Castro, May, Diaz, and Loup have looked great. And even Familia looks too have re-found himself!

People just really underestimate how the rest of the world views these guys mainly because of 2019.

FG had the Mets having the second best bullpen in baseball prior to the season, and then they moved it to #1 when the Yanks lost Wilson for a bit.

That's all on the heals of two guys... May and Diaz.

Its not a stretch to think at least those two are going to be good this year and if they are, everything will fall into place. Guys like Familia doing well is just gravy.
I am not really sure
bhill410 : 4/17/2021 8:33 pm : link
I would say that Castro and may have looked great. Both have serious control issues. Loup looked great his last outing but gave it up in game 1.

Castro has saved our asses and was called on to pitch two entire innings in our last double header.

He has a 3.86 ERA but has a 1.21 FIP, 11.57 k/9 and 1.93 BB/9. This on the heals on being lights out all ST.

Castro has been electric IMO. But again, we dont even need him to be.
Hope everyone is aware of Diaz's

I sure hope you are right. That is the big question mark I have for this team. If the pen is a strength, nothing stopping us.

ZGiants98 : 4/17/2021 9:12 pm : link
Im not trying to say its perfect. We'll blow some games this year. But its amazing how bad bullpens are all around baseball. When you really dive into other team's rosters, most teams are lucky to have two quality guys, let alone 8.

Im very bullish on our pen. I think it does finish top 5-ish. We'll see.

Looks like this second game is a dud. Bats are ready to go to the hotel.
Unbelievable but the Cubs series

weather looks terrible. Tuesday's game likely gets postponed.
Really disgusting job by Rojas tonight
ZGiants98 : 4/17/2021 10:20 pm : link
Dude literally did everything possible to lose this second game. Its a 1 run game and he's just casually trying to get everyone work. First Gsellman, then Barnes. When Barnes was in trouble... not only does he leave him in but he has Hildenberger and Tarpley warming up. Are you effing kidding me??

Our whole pen is rested. Loup, May, Castro, and Familia....

Awful awful job.
Would’ve loved the sweep today
Metnut : 4/17/2021 10:40 pm : link
but you gotta score more than 2 runs to win at coors field.

Let’s win the series tomorrow and get out of there. Coors field games are always really weird and I’m happy to get the team out of there.
Don’t like Rojas
ryanmkeane : 4/17/2021 11:08 pm : link
but you’re in a tough spot with their doubleheaders and postponed games, you have to get some bullpen work for tonight’s game and just call it a wash today and then have Stroman and your best bullpen guys for tomorrow. I actually think it was a smart move.

They got down 3-0 early, he played it right

Completely disagree. You haven't used your pen since last Wednesday and you have ANOTHEWR off day this Monday and possibly Tuesday as well. Absolutely fine giving Gsellman an inning, but once it became a one run game, you HAVE to shift gears. Rojas had zero intention of going to his better relievers in that game. He was going Gsellman, Barnes, Hildenberger, and then Tarpley no matter what.

Awful awful job. Castro, Loup, May, and Familia were fully rested.
