New CBS Mock

Bruner4329 : 4/17/2021 8:49 pm
Only one round but it has Giants trading down with Pats and getting the 15th pick, the Pats number 2 and 6 this year and a number 2 next year. I do this in a heart beat. They have us picking Parsons at 15. If this were to happen we would be able to get a quality ER/LB, OL and WR with our first 3 picks.

I would still be tempted to just pick Waddle

and I would hate to see him go to the Eagles, but I'd be pretty happy with that trade and that pick.

I got the vibe that you want Michigan EDGE Kwity Paye.
Still think we go EDGE
gameday555 : 4/17/2021 10:05 pm : link
But on the whole I really like this mock from a zoomed out perspective. Good balance between surprise picks, value selections and overall team needs.
that would be ideal
Producer : 4/17/2021 10:36 pm : link
i would love to do a trade down and then maybe another trade down. You can still get a promising EDGE in the 20s.

But trade down and get Parsons? That's money, too.
If it sounds that good to everyone,

Of course it won't happen, but it's fun to think about.
First of all....
Milton : 4/17/2021 11:19 pm : link
No way the Patriots trade away that much to move up four spots. If that were the case, the Cowboys would jump on that very same offer.

Second of all, if the Giants did make that trade, they wouldn't be stupid enough to waste the 15th pick on a LB who's never played LB and opted out last year when he had a chance to learn the position. And then there's all that smoke about him being a dirtbag, but I'll leave it up to the Giants to determine the truth on that.

Let's all hope that the Cowboys take Parsons. That would be funny as hell!
a trade which nets us NE’s first two picks
wigs in nyc : 4/17/2021 11:20 pm : link
would give us 15, 42, and 45 - with where the depth of rhis draft lies, we could genuinely plug the three big holes with the talent in these areas, and let the rest of the draft come to us.

I know a trade with NE has been floated here and there- but if it’s legitimately on the table, there are maybe two players who could be available at 11 which would make me question pulling the trigger.
My question...
Milton : 4/17/2021 11:53 pm : link
Why would the Cowboys turn down this very same offer?

Nah. I wouldn't be devastated because we all don't really know how these picks will turn out. But I'm pulling for one of the two Alabama receivers, or even the Alabama cornerback.
That would be a huge win

For the Giants
And one more thing...
Milton : 4/18/2021 12:10 am : link
I know teams give up more than usual when they are trading up for a QB prospect, but that's when you are trading into the top five or so, not when you are trading up four spots to get to the 11th overall pick. To go from 15 to 11 should take no more than a mid-third rounder to accomplish. If Belichick is that enamored with Mac Jones that he would give up this year's and next year's 2nd round picks, he would be offering that package to Atlanta, Cincy, Miami, Detroit, Denver, and Dallas; and I guarantee one of those teams would jump on it long before it got to pick #11.

If we want to live in fantasy land when it comes to the terms of a trade, how about the Giants trade the 11th overall pick, the 116th overall pick, and Evan Engram to Cincy, Miami, or Detroit for Kyle Pitts.

p.s.--. I feel pretty confident that the first four picks will be QBs (Atlanta is either drafting a QB or trading with a team that drafts a QB) with a reasonable possibility that it will be five QBs in a row if Jones goes to the Niners with pick #3.

I agree with you that the top 4 will be QBs. SF will take Lance or Fields and ATL will either take the 4th QB or trade out. If SF passes on Mac Jones, as I expect, Jones can easily slip to 11th. I think you are right this haul, to go from 15 to 11 sounds, high. But even just a 2nd would be good, and if Mac Jones is there and NE wants him, a 2nd seems reasonable.

That's my exaggeration of the fact that he wasn't asked to do the things in Penn State's system that an inside LB is typically asked to do at the NFL level (nor do I believe he has the size and length for the ER role in the NFL).

Maybe I don't know what I'm talking about. It's possible. I'm not a scout. For the most part I was being sarcastic about the fact he has a lot to learn given the position he will play compared to others who opted out. The same goes for Rousseau and look how far he's dropped in the eyes of the draftniks.
Yep, I would make that trade for sure
M.S. : 4/18/2021 6:32 am : link

Plenty of good players at 15, and picking up the 46th pick this season would be real nice.

Giants would be surrendering 1,250 Draft Points and getting in return over 1,500 without even counting next year's pick, which depending on your valuation is somewhere between ~200 - 450 points.

seeing Judge signing off on an opt out at #11.

That said, Parsons is a tremendous athlete and I think Graham would utilize him well.
Giants wouldn’t get that much
jeff57 : 4/18/2021 7:25 am : link
Probably just a 2 this year. No way two 2s.
Only downside is Eagles getting Waddle

Trade Compensation is Way Off
Jim in Tampa : 4/18/2021 7:32 am : link
One of the beats (Art Stapleton?) did a similar swap between the Giants and the Pats and he had the Pats giving up a 3rd.

I think in that trade scenario the Giants would be very lucky to get a 2nd.
Giants would get a 2
jeff57 : 4/18/2021 7:35 am : link
Because of the Patriot QB desperation. Gives the Giants bargaining power. But not as music as to get two 2s.

Parsons definitely has areas that need work but he’s got all the tools to do it. Blake at the Mike helps a guy like Parsons tremendously as does the DLine we built. We potentially get a versatile pass rusher who can turn into a plus LBer without having to spend a top 5 pick or throwing huge FA dollars at.

And in this scenario the risk is offset by two 2nds, however unlikely that is.
Come on
Harvest Blend : 4/18/2021 8:28 am : link
that will never happen.
for the record, I think NE’s 2nd this year, #46, is well worth it all
wigs in nyc : 4/18/2021 8:37 am : link
by itself.

Again, unless there are maybe three names in particular on the board at 11. (who in all likelihood wont be.) Anyone else I take that deal all day long.
Yes
Allen in CNJ : 4/18/2021 8:57 am : link

I would also take just a 2nd
UConn4523 : 4/18/2021 9:09 am : link
I’d pass on anything less though. There’s likely a big dropoff in how we rate the top 10 guys (a couple definitely slipping in all likelihood) and the top 15-20. A 3rd and change just doesn’t offset what we lose out on.
I’m puzzled by the previous trade, at #7.

We get our first draft-day trade at No. 7 overall, as the Broncos trade up from No. 9 to jump the Panthers.
Why does Senver need to jump Carolina for Lance? Is the premise that Carolina would draft him to develop alongside Darnold? That might be a decent hedging strategy for the Panthers, but Dajani doesn’t spell it out anywhere. His mock reflects the Darnold trade elsewhere (at #2 and #8), but seems to ignore it at #7. Weird.

Anyway, the proposed NYG/NWE trade is a massive overpay by the Patriots. I know teams go to great lengths to get their man at QB, but this scenario just seems absurd.

This is exactly what I feel like I would want to dream up with no chance of it happening.

I will say though, Belicheck usually acquires a lot of draft picks but also is not afraid to trade draft picks for what he wants.

If the Giants trade down, I only want it to be for an extra 2nd or a 1st next year.

Another 2nd this year greatly increases the chance of an immediate impact player. We could be getting 3 immediate impact players. With a first and two, 2's I could see the Giants drafting an edge/lb, oline, and WR.

Having 2nd's also means the Giants could trade a 3rd with their 2nd to jump back into the 1st if a player they really likes falls and still have another 2nd to grab another great player.

I don't see this happening, but the Patriots are the team in the most ideal trading spot.
