Jaycee Horn top RAS score amongst CBs in 30+ years

Judge_and_Jury : 4/18/2021 11:03 am
And he has the game tape to match. He is my CB1 over Surtain at this point.

Jaycee Horn is a CB prospect in the 2021 draft class. He scored a 10 RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 1 out of 1748 CB from 1987 to 2021.

Splits projected, times unofficial.

Adding bench keeps him there, but we need agis

Kollman on Horn - ( New Window )
Surtain was 9th out of that group

Of over 1700 corners, FWIW.
Horn is a baller on top of that, wouldn't hate if went that direction.

I really like the top 3 corners in this class.

If I had to pick one to shadow the opposing teams WR1 I'd probably pick Horn. Surtain II probably fits our scheme the best and Farley if healthy is truly a freak athlete and ball hawk IMO. It will be interesting to see where they land.
Horn has a habit of grabbing the WR only negative

5 holding penalties in 2020.

Ooof, I don't remember that watching him. That's tough to beat out of guys. Especially since that doesn't work in a vacuum, generally means they are very handsy in general which doesn't translate to NFL. See - Eli Apple. At least Horn has unbelievable athleticism to match.
hope they both go

I hope he goes top 10, infact I think he'll be the 1st CB off the board (over Surtain).

Because I hate passing on value and depending on who drops he may be BPA when we pick. If we didn't have 30M tied up AAV in our top 2 CBs and Holmes at Slot, he'd make much more sense.

That'd be great because it would almost garantee one of the blue chip pass catchers to drop to us.
Nothing a couple of tennis balls and some duct tape can’t fix

While I love the teaching idea, there's more to it than that. When your whole football playing days today you've relied on rerouting your guy with your hands during routes, it doesn't say much at how well a guy can cover in the NFL. Does that make sense? It's not so much the hand usage and penalties, it's learning how to cover without leaning on that crutch.
This guy is gonna be a good pro

for 8+ years I think
Playing corner involves mirroring a receiver. Being a good athlete is
Ira : 4/18/2021 1:09 pm : link
part of being able to do that, but sometimes good athletes don't do as well as expected.
It seems like every other prospect
giantBCP : 4/18/2021 1:39 pm : link
is setting all-time records this year without standardized combine testing.
D Smith

This is why I like Smith pick if we do at 11. There’s chance that Cowboys or Eagles select Horn and although Horn has freakish athleticism, D Smith beat Horn pretty good and Horn also admitted Smith was toughest to defend. I get Smith is thin and light but he went against all these athletic freak cornerbacks in SEC and he won pretty much all of them. It would be interesting to know how he practiced against Surtain.

Bingo. Smith toughest cover even for top 10 CBs in this draft.
