Chopper, no argument here about yesterday. He was a no show. But I'm taking the body of the work. And let's see how much he's going to get. The thing that sucks is that it's a pretty weak free agent market so some guys are going to get absurd contracts similar to the summer '16.
Like I said, package some picks and a player or 2 to move up. Mitch, both picks should be a good starting point to move up.
But you guys watch Last Chance U (basketball) on Netflix? I'm a few episodes in and it's really good. Highly recommend.
Buddy said the same. I haven't gotten around to it, but while. Wife controls the Netflix downstairs & we started 'Emily in Paris' on Saturday night. For the love of God, just take me out back & put me out of my misery.
You dont have a 2nd TV? Or a lap top with bluetooth headphones?

I wouldn't be opposed to that if that's what the front office wants to do.

We need Dallas to lose in the play in game.
Top 10 pick, mid teens pick, and Mitch might give us a shot at cade or Suggs.
We are not drafting 4 players this year and would love to go all in for Cade or Suggs.
Part of me feels like we may miss Payton when he’s gone though. I think Rose does best coming off the bench and preserving his body — and I don’t think Quickley or Mitchell (or whoever the rookie we target) would be quite ready to be the full starter yet in 2022. Need another vet who can distribute and simply hold down the fort when needed, preferably better than Payton of course (which seemingly shouldn’t be hard to find but again Payton could be one of those dudes we end up missing more than we’d like to admit)
You lost me with your first sentence, Haha.
Hahaha nah fair enough— I’ve had more Payton-related outbursts in my home than anyone, but he continues to get minutes and I guess I just trust Thibs so much at this point I feel like he sees something in Payton that we don’t. Maybe I’m thinking too deeply lol. I guess Thibs just likes his ability to drive and score in the paint and that helps other dudes out? Then again usually when you have a guy like that you also want him to be able to drive and kick, but Payton can’t pass. I also don’t think I’ve ever seen him make a single 3 and yet he continues to take them. Idk. I’m just wondering— do you guys think D Rose, Quickley, and (let’s say rookie D Mitchell, or a diff 1st round PG) is all we’d need at the point next year? What other vet is available who we could afford to be that 4th guy? (Obviously I’m not talking about Ball in this particular conversation)
Does 7 and 7 get them the 6th seed?
Realistically I think they can go 9-5
Gives them a 40-32 record.
7-7 would be a huge season finishing 38-34.
Next 5 at home need to go 4-1 and lose to only to PHX.
Last night I picked us to go 8-6 (finish 39-33) and be the 5th seed right behind the Celtics. I think Miami will finish a game below us and the Hawks will be the 7th seed, Hornets 8th (Pacers and Wizards right behind them at 9 & 10 ).
I think our realistic floor is 6-8 and our possible ceiling is 10-4. Hence I come to 8-6 lol.
With the way we’re playing, my thinking is (granted, I’m on a massive confidence high w/ this 6 game win streak lol) ...
6-8 scenario:
1) split w/ the Hornets,
2) split the Hawks/Celtics games,
3) split the Spurs/Grizzlies games,
4) lose BOTH games to the Suns.
10-4 scenario:
1) beat the Hornets twice
2) beat both the Hawks & the Celtics
3) beat both the Spurs and Grizzlies
4) steal 1 game from the Suns
I think 2 of the 4 things from each of the above scenarios will happen and we’ll finish 8-6.
(I’ll admit now 24 hours removed from the win last night, my gut is now saying maybe only 1 of those 4 things will happen and we finish 7-7, but nah screw it, we’re winning more games than losing down this stretch, I can feel it)
Also— perhaps we stand a better chance of stealing one from the Nuggets than the Suns right now, but reason I picked the Suns is b/c we play them twice. It’s hard to beat any team twice in a short time span, especially a stingy and passionate team like the Knicks.
following the future Dallas draft pick as much as I am the Knicks and I see that BBI's favorite former Dukie Grayson Allen missed breakaway dunk in OT was a factor in the Memphis lost last night. Nice...
Listen the guy is other worldly but how does philly let him do that last night playing with Draymond, Mo Larry and curly?
I get that he shoots from 35 feet in but as soon as he get over half court you do what Thibs would do. Double the ball out of his hands. Doc is a better coach than that.
The Athletic is doing a podcast called 'Shattered'...pretty much an oral history of the last 20 years of Knicks basketball. It's obviously not the cheery of pods, but it's a solid listen with a bunch of guests jumping on.

Haha. I listen because I'm a glutton for punishment. They released an episode this morning about Isiah's time here...Good God.
I feel like at the time he took over, instead of doing a bunch of trades and trading for Marbury, if he just cleared cap, he would of been able to get stars to come to New York..
It wasnt that far off from when the Knicks were relevant..
I remember Damon Stoudemire and Sheed both wanted to come to thr Knicks..
But isiah always had a quick trigger when it came to trades..
Payton is so butthurt by Jordan laughing at him in the documentary. He said Lebron was the better player.. "by far" lol
Karl actually screwed that up, waiting until Game 4 to put GP on MJ. Payton played MJ pretty well defensively the rest of the series. Nevertheless, Chicago would have probably won regardless if Karl had put The Glove on Jordan from the jump.
Gafford seems like a steal for Washington. He's #1 in the NBA in terms of rim protection since the trade deadline and is averaging 11 and 6 with 2 blocks since joining them. A Mitch type.
nygiants16, when I think of Thomas' time here...Jerome James is the first thing that comes to mind, along with the sexual harassment stuff. Dark times, dark times...

Ummm I've lived it. No thanks. Now that we actually appear to have left the woods why in ever loving hell would I wanna go back and re-live it. Hard pass.

Did you see their stat line from last night? The Wiz played three centers 16 minutes apiece and they combined to score 39 points on 16-18 from the field with 11 rebounds. I know it was against OKC, but that’s crazy.

Stu, I respect that, Haha. I don't blame ya. I'm a sucker for those type of pods though.
Of course the Wiz put up that line vs. OKC. The Thunder were probably playing that rookie center who is something like 7'5 & weighs 95 pounds soaking wet.
What the problem was starting with the Ewing trade up until L.Rose is that every Knick GM did the same thing: 1 cataclysmically bad move (Ewing Trade, Eddie Curry, Marbury etc...) that always led to a series of awful moves to try and fix the mess (Jerome James, Steve Francis, Noah etc...) which just turned the whole thing into a hopeless pile of shit. Walsh was a brief respite, but he had his doozies too like the whole Billups option mess and giving away a 1st rounder to get rid of Jeffries right before just about every FA laughed at us during the summer of 2010. Ok I've said my peace lol...
Isaih was not only just about the worst GM in NBA history, taking an aging lousy roster and actually making it worse somehow talent wise while leaving us about 100 million over the cap, but he may have been the worst executive in employment history! On top of the aforementioned atrocity he cost Dolan 11.5 million with the whole Anuka Browne Sanders mess.
Again, please just shoot me.
Again, please just shoot me.
Oooof. But it probably makes your wife happy, which is good.
Boston has no Kemba and no Fournier

absolutely terrible, their defense is horrid, they can score but they dont stop anyone

All depends on where our picks end up post lottery.
Maybe the balls bounce our way for once and Dallas blows the play in
Yep especially because it's gonna determine the tie breaker.

Miami looks like it has the tougher schedule the rest of the way.
No one is going to want to play him in the play-in.
Mark Cuban's worst nightmare

Like a scene from a Woody Harrelson - Wesley Snipes movie - ( New Window )
