The Devils should hire Gerard Gallant while he is still available.
Why the hell is Tennyson playing? He is lousy defensively and offers nothing offensively. Every game that he plays he stands out and never in a good way/.
They’re rebuilding. They have the youngest group of forwards in NHL of the modern era. The average age of their forwards is 22.7 and that was before 20 year old Nolan Foote entered the lineup.
But my Hockey app has just informed me that Kratsov has scored his first NHL goal. And, Anakim's favorite player got the assist, Howden. Ha!
It was a nice play by him, but the Devils defender gave the puck away and Howden passed it to the wide open player. Hardly threading the needle, but I don't want to take anyway from him.

*anything away. He's still an awful player.
RE: Kaapo Kakko earned some stripes there with me.
If you think any of this is the Devils’ goalie’s fault, you know less than my dead grandmother about hockey.
As Jay said, Devils are playing out the string with young guys. Rangers are fighting for playoffs — the Rangers are doing well and doing what they need to do.
Rangers for awhile. There’s a TON of young talent on this team. I was impressed with Kravtsov and Kakko looks a LOT more comfortable and confident. They are going to be something by next year.
And there is more young talent coming.

Correct, the Devils season is over so they are using the remainder of the season to evaluate young players.
They are in the process of signing 2020 7th overall pick RW Alexander Holtz to an ELC. This is the only benefit of having a shitty record. At least we get to see prospects who aren’t completely ready for the NHL yet.
Rangers are 4 behind the Bruins (2 games in hand for Boston)
Rangers are 6 behind the Islanders (who play later)
Rangers are 7 behind the Penguins (same # of games)
That is the first time I’ve ever seen that watching hockey.
Once again I was referring to the Studenic penalty not Tennyson obvious late hit.
Jay, pretty clear Studenic boarded/cross checked Lindgren into the boards without time to defend himself. Dirty, unnecessary. Ruff had no basis to complain.
Ice at the Rock must have been really soft; so many players taking unforced spills, led to some dicey moments.
Not comparing them, you can't, but Kravtsov is Panarinesque as a sniper. If he becomes half the player Panarin is, Rangers really have another goal scorer on their hands. He singlehandedly makes the other team have to think about the 4th line's o.
By next Sunday evening, we'll know if there's a halfway shot at sneaking in. BOS games in hand are almost disqualifying. Next week 2 games each vs Fish, Sabres, and Flyers. Realistically they need min 6 and probably 7 points to hang around. Sabres have been playing well. I was emphatic 3-4 weeks ago when someone said the Sabres had quit on the season; they played us tough back-to-back and have been winning more than losing, playing loose.
Nice to see Laf smile, great piece of stickwork to his backhand.
So are the Knicks. This Yankees team is like ice water on the balls.
Rangers get no help from Islanders and Capitals
It looked like the shot clipped Georgy on the leg or knee, judging by his angle. Lets hope it's just a deep bruise and bit something more serious.

He's out of the game and he couldn't put any weight on it while he was going to the locker room. Not good.
He back in. Looks like he had a cramp.

Don't forget Uncle Fester on the bench.

Yeah, that might've been the first time I've seen Kakko act confrontational. Ya love to see it.
Also, excellent play by Laf on that goal. Skate to stick with barely anytime. Incredibly difficult to do...or so I've heard.
What are you talking about? Lafreniere fell down. What about Trouba leaving his skates to hit Johnsson in the head earlier?

fuck ass dirty play. And Lindsay Muff starts screaming incoherently. Nice team they got over there.

Laf didn't fall down. Tennyson pushed him into Blackwood.

I wasn’t talking about that. That was dirty Tennyson is awful and stupid.

You MUST be smoking rocks. Tennyson checked him into Blackswell and the net.

His game rust clearly shows...or he just blows. Either or

Anyway, good finish for the Rangers. Keep that pressure on everyone ahead of them.
