I would consider it a huge win. I've mentioned numerous times how DeVonta Smith is at the top of my wish list at 11. Dickerson's medicals are a bit of a concern but if the team doctors clear him then I would be very happy to add him to the offensive line. Dickerson could play guard but I think the better move would be to move Gates to RG while letting Lemieux, Hernandez, Murphy, and Fulton compete for the LG spot.
What about Waddle (5-foot-10, 182)? It’s early, but I think the Giants like Smith better. So did Alabama coach Nick Saban, by the way, and we know what his opinion means to Giants head coach Joe Judge.
I find it hard to believe that Saban would say something like this so is it pure speculation on Ralph's part? Based on what?
Says he still thinks Giants will go edge with first pick
I rarely watch college, but I understand that DS's weight make him an extreme outlier.
The one potential issue that I never see discussed is the importance of downfield blocking for our all-world (assuming he recovers fully) RB, who should be getting a lot of touches. We love Sterling Shepard's downfield blocks that can often spring a good run into a chunk play, but I wonder about DS's ability to block. (I understand that this is towards the end of qualities that you look for in a WR, but still.)
Dickerson began his collegiate career at Florida State. He was named the Seminoles' starter at right guard during training camp and became the first true freshman offensive lineman to start a season opener since Jamie Dukes in 1982. He started the first seven games of the season before suffering a season-ending knee injury. Dickerson started the first four games of his sophomore season before missing the rest of the season due to injury. He used a medical redshirt after sustaining an ankle injury two games into his junior year.
Dickerson started the first 11 games of the season for the Crimson Tide as a redshirt senior before suffering ligament damage in his right knee against Florida in the 2020 SEC Championship Game.
So that’s 4 injuries in 4 seasons, 3 of them legitimately bad?
I’ll say it then, zero chance. I’m all about guys coming back from injury and I actually think sometimes it can be a bit overrated when guys have an injury in college, but Dickerson seems like a guy NYG would not draft unless he fell to the 5th or 6th round
Don’t have much of a opinion on the 3rd round pick outside of saying that it’s probably early for an interior DL there especially given how weak the draft class is this year. I understand the 2022 IDL situation but our experience with Austin Johnson and Danny Shelton shows how easy it is to stop gap that 3rd or 4th guy when you need to. Day 3 would probably be a smarter play if they go in that direction.
but will "appease the fans" by assuming Smith is still there at 11.
I'd say it's more like he doesn't want to commit to which ER Giants will take after he got the wrong OT last year.
This is a big issue with reporters today. They report on rumors this time of year, and then contradict those rumors.
If the Giants are truly "leaning" towards ER, and you reported that - then you damn well should be using that information to make a pick of ER in a mock. Otherwise, aren't you basically admitting that your report was a lot of hot air?
It's not just that Dickerson is an injury risk, it's that his injury
obvious chances with injured players, especially multiple knees. That many surgeries can lead to degenerative conditions early on. I suspect that they may go OL at #42, but may lean toward one of the OTs that can play inside, like Leatherwood.
In the second round I would pick Carlos Basham over Dickerson
This whole offseason we have been talking about getting a Edge rusher to add to the roster. He had a awesome Senior Bowl week.
I would then address the OL in the third round with OG Aaron Banks from ND.
DT is one of the weakest if not the weakest groups in this year's draft.
Just my opinion...

This is kind of what of was intimating yesterday on the other Vacchiano thread, that RV may be more outside looking in these day with his sources. Realize he has to try and appeal to the readers but you do that by getting good info and reporting on it, not by just selecting the "fan's choice".
In one short paragraph, he says he think the Giants will go Edge but he doesn't use it; says they could also go Slater but first indicates he likely won't get out of the top 10; and then just says WR to appease fans? Great job.
RV might as well just create a post on BBI and write this because it carries as much weight.
Theer was an interesting stat on NFL netwoork this morning
Of the last 24 1st round WRs, only 2 made the Pro Bowl and no All Pros. I think WR is still one of those positions that are harder to project to the NFL. I am very cautious of the Alabama kids as they are on the best team with the most talent. Also with the signing of Golliday the rookie WR will have a little less impact out of the gate. I know thats short sighted but Im tired of losing and I want someone who will make an immediate impact on wins and losses. Maybe a WR will do that but OL is the position that still needs the most work.
Think what Nelson did for the Colts and Martin did for the Cowboys. They completely changed the dynamic of the team. A Good OL will make this offense go.

If Smith drops he is likely the pick. If none of Smith,Pitts,Chase,Sewell drop then it's likely EDGE
I'd take it.
DJ would have zero excuses that's for sure.
"Injured players, stay injured". He has had multiple surgeries. I will not touch Dickerson with a ten foot pole.

lol, I truly do love this place

Am I wrong? That runout is essentially a carbon copy of the 2014 draft which ended up pretty shitty.

Why would you go into any draft thinking you are only going to get one good player? That makes zero sense.
Sure, you might not get any good player. But why would you take that approach as a team or fan?
Are you saying that you think this draft is only 32 players deep?

I’m saying if that’s how their first 3 picks go then it’s likely going to be another shitty draft.
They can come out of this draft with some good players but not going that way 1-2-3.
I would never say zero chance.
Sounds pretty good to me.

+1 Dickerson is a BEAST...favourite OL in draft not named Penei Sewell
I think Dickerson can and I’d plug him in at RG. At least to start.

ACL surgery is not as bad as it used to be and recovery rates are much higher. But the number of major injuries is a bit disconcerting.
