New 7-Round Mock Draft: Ryan Wilson CBS Sports

M.S. : 4/19/2021 4:26 pm

He has Rashawn Slater / DeVonta Smith going 11 / 12 to the Giants / Eagles. For months, I would have chosen Smith hands down. But now I'm not so sure.

New York Giants
11. Rashawn Slater, OT, Northwestern
42. Ronnie Perkins, EDGE, Oklahoma
76. Amari Rodgers, WR, Clemson
116. Cameron McGrone, LB, Michigan
196. John Bates, TE, Boise State
201. Simi Fehoko, WR, Stanford

so take two WRs

and a TE (50% of the NY draft), but not one of the best WRs.

makes no sense to me...
I have no problem with this. I like Rogers
Victor in CT : 4/19/2021 4:36 pm : link
and I'm wary of Smith's lack of size, though not as adamant about passing on him as I am about Waddle (injury history).

Seems pretty illogical. We really don’t need to draft 2 WR’s anyway. KG, Shepard, Slayton, (first or second round pick), Ross, and then a special teams WR or 2 makes the most sense.
2 fold with Smith
larryflower37 : 4/19/2021 4:37 pm : link
We get a game breaker at WR and the Eagles don't.
If he is there I can't see passing him up.

I hear ya. Huge DeVonta Smith fan here. The only thing that gives me pause: the right side of Giants O-line.

i'm down on Slater as our pick at 11, I'd actually prefer VT to him if they choose to go OL

A better OL likely helps the offense more so than a single WR IMHO.

The pick needs to be BPA. I doubt BPA at #11 will be Edge. I'm not sure BPA at #11 will be OL. Most likely BPA will be WR, CB or LB.

I think BPA could be Edge or OL with a trade down to the #15 to #20 range.

That might be ideal. Get an OL or Edge at #15 to #20, get a WR with one 2nd round pick and get whatever you didn't get in the 1st round with the second 2nd round pick (say OL in round 1, then Edge in the second 2nd rounder)

Of course "It takes two to Tango" relative to a trade down.

Feihoko is an interesting pick in the 6th.

The rest of that draft shows why Wilson doesn't run any team's draft.

That would make too much sense.
Smith all the way

If you are compelled to waste a first round pick to just to throw a guy into the OL. IX, then for God’s sake move into the twenties.

Simi going rd3-4. No later. Pat Kirwin loves this guy
I prefer going slot at the WR spot, so Rogers is
Joe in CT : 4/19/2021 5:47 pm : link
definitely someone I really like, the other slot is Eskridge (small school standout), runs the 40 in same time as Waddle. Preference is edge/LB at #11, that would be Parson's, then BPA vs need matches best at #42 for OL.
Without looking to see who is availabe later in the draft...
rasbutant : 4/19/2021 6:09 pm : link
Here is my re-draft using who he has available at their pick.

1. Devonta Smith
2. Gregory Rousseau
3. Landon Dickerson
4. Trey Sermon
6. Alaric Jackson
7. Charles Snowden
If we get Fehoko...

in the 7th round that is the STEAL of the draft.

Sorry, 6th round.

He's very, very good.
That's a remote thrower!

2 lower quality Wr's and a TE?

You crushed it. 😍
If either Ross or Pettis finally get it they are equal to Smith imho
gtt350 : 4/19/2021 9:53 pm : link
If both produce we will have a phenominal WR group

I think there’s a greater probability that they are out of the league in 2 years than they become Smith tbh
Some how we could drop to like #20
Carl in CT : 4/19/2021 10:30 pm : link
And get another second and draft an edge, wr and OL before the end of the second round would be optimal in my book.

Apparently you had 1st dibs in Colorado when pot went on sale? I can see you have a lot left over too. It's so cool that you haven't stopped since it went on sale.
Eskridge did play

about it. These guys were signed for a reason, if they sieze the opportunity who knows.

Exactly friggin right. Value seems to line up best, if Smith falls to 11, as:

1. WR
2. EDGE
3. IOL
