I have no idea what to make of Trey Lance, and frankly neither does anyone. The guy has barely played. The prospect of another Patrick Mahomes is enough for teams to make that leap though with regards to Lance. A lot of rumors have WFT being very high on Lance. That, coupled with this tweet from Rapaport - maybe they could pull off a trade to get him.

The #Dolphins have already made two moves in the NFL Draft and they may not be done yet: Sources say they’ve received calls from teams looking to trade up to No. 6 and it is something they’re considering. Lot of things in play, but Miami could be at it again. |
I’m indifferent as a Giant fan, chances are Lance is middle of the road at best. It’ll be interesting to see if WFT can pull it off.
Jones came into the League with three solid seasons of experience. Lance played one year, back in 2019. Competition level aside (like struggling against Illinois State in his last game), the biggest question about Lance is his thin resume.
I realize Jones plays faster than his 4.8 from the combine, but he's not a 4.55 guy like Lance. And by most accounts, Lance has a stronger arm, even at this early stage. I doubt you will see many draftniks mentioning Jones as a comp for Lance.
But that thin resume is an awfully big question mark. Hasn't played the position for very long, has just over a year starting, hasn't played in over a year, and played for a dominant program at a lower level.
Yikes. I'd be fine taking a flyer on him in a later round, but the bust factor is really high. I guess the best comp might be Josh Allen, but at least he had 2 years starting, played QB in HS, and played for a FBS school (albeit a lower level one).
If he works out like Allen has, good on WFT, but I think the odds are long.
And yes Lance's thin college resume is a concern, but what about Jones's wholly unimpressive college resume? He's one of the worst college quarterbacks drafted in the first round in the last ten years.
And the old regime drafted Haskins. It's an entirely new regime at WFT right now.

and an entirely new one will pick Lance's successor. A never ending virtuous cylce as long as lil Danny owns them. I hope Miami does it.

Yes, Lance only played one year. But when you go 28/0 TDs/INTs, rush for 1K yards and another 14 TDs rushing you are pretty damn gifted...regardless of the competition.
Giants and WTF aren't in QB hell. Neither have huge amounts of cap space tied up in mediocre QBs and can easily pivot to another signal caller if what they have doesn't work out.

So basically, QB hell means you're paying one of the better QBs a lot of money? So every team paying the QB is in stupid ass QB hell? Uhhhh no. Stop.
Can we put that stupid shit to rest?
Here's a little thing that is going to make some of nuts. The goal is to find that QB and pay him a lot of money. That's the goal.

Only if Prescott was going to catch his own passes.

and if we had PRescott last year we probably win 10 games. Not a knock on Jones, just facts. I like Jones, but stop with this nonsense.

fair enough. but I wish dallas didn't have prescott. We'd beat them more often.
