per below Tweet. Obvious move is obvious.
Link - ( New Window )
he's no better than Jay Bruce at the plate
Giantsfan79 : 4/20/2021 10:37 am : link
but should be a major upgrade in 1B defense over Bruce.

He better hit right away
averagejoe : 4/20/2021 10:44 am : link
He had an opportunity to impress last year and hit a buck thirty five. He needs to start hot to stay here.

Luke Voit is supposed to be back by mid-May, so Ford only has to hold the fort for 20ish games.
Every team needs a plumber

Maybe this is the spark we need
Luke Voit as savior is a scary thought

While I might have agreed with you prior to the end of last year, he seemed to call them out in September and they 'reacted' somewhat. The fact that Stanton, Judge, Hicks, Sanchez, Torres, etc need Voit to motivate them is more scary. A lot of overpaid and overhyped players underacheiving.
I have thought for awhile
Giant John : 4/20/2021 11:42 am : link
This team has no heart. No fight in them. They are playing like losers.

I dunno, at this point a tackling dummy may be better than Bruce at the plate
Big day today

see if we can approach this week with a different attitude. Ford was next man up. Just gotta hope for the best until Voit returns. Would rather see more of DJ at 1st than Ford errday.
Just about anybody would be better than Bruce at the plate.
Red Dog : 4/20/2021 12:39 pm : link
And at this point Ford is definitely better than Bruce both in the field and at the plate.

Savior is not correct, but the guy can hit and get on base, so a shot in the arm is appropriate. He was improving at 1B defensively although he will never make anyone forget Mattingly or Martinez.
Voit as actually been pretty steady since they traded for him and played his ass off with a bad wheel last year.

Yeah, I want to like him more than I do for the reasons you stated, BUT, he's another guy who is always hurt, Ks alot and is not very athletic or versatile. BUt he does bring fire and effort.

Yeah, he does K(power hitter), but also has a fairly high OBP, although last year it dropped as I suspect the foot injury hurt that.
Sometimes you do not need versatility and 1b are rarely versatile...just a guy that gets a hit with RISP.
So the Yankees recalled a Ford?
manh george : 4/20/2021 4:44 pm : link
Evidence suggests that they should recall most of the fleet.

Really loved this group a few years ago. Stanton was as big of a mistake as the 2nd ARod contract not that we didn't expect him to fall off but he's another untradable guy who never performs close to what he should. The rest other than a Voit don't even play to their potential never mind excel. Hicks is hurt as often as the others if not more. Never mind his spotty play

Sad to say but not a leader in the bunch IMO either.
