I think there is an 80% chance Smith will be there at 11. and a 50% chance the Giants select him.
Vegas has the over at pick 11.5 for Smith. They think he'll be there.
Seems many on here are certain he will be gone. That isn't how the buzz is trending.
Do you think he'll be there?
Don't get me wrong - he is a great player and will prob have a good career. But #11 is awfully high for a WR that small.
I get the feel Campbell is going to want to build the defense and the line before moving onto the skill positions.
I think Detriot goes Micah Parson, Slater, Sewell or maybe even Paye but that seem like a reach, they are probably trying to trade down.

Spot to get him.

I should have included the Top CB's in there as well. And the two tackles would probably play G for them as they have high price LT and RT already.

Injury risk for a WR that has no history of injury?
Press coverage? You clearly haven't watched him. He has a great release. If it was so easy to press him, how did he dominate the best conference in college football?
Blocking is a reason you contribute to 11 being too high for a receiver?
But back to Smith - I hope we still pass on him if he's there at #11. The odds of hitting on a first round WR are close to only 25%. And I just don't trust Smith's body type. So I hope we go in a different direction.
ok, cheery. Nobody cares what Vegas thinks about sports matters.

It would be a fun selection. Slater might be a better one. I can get behind both.

and, no, I don't think we'll take him. Under 170 lbs. is gonna result in him dropping. Injury risk, ability to defeat press coverage, plus sub-par blocking are the concerns.

Will be a different world in the NFL for Smith. I feel the same way. He will have a hard time against press at the next level. I think he’s there at 11 and the Giants do not take him.

and I think he's going to be one of two players to drop in this draft. The other is Mac Jones. I'm still not convinced he's even top 25, let alone a top 5 talent.

Was in Mock Draft tonight and Top 10 went Lawrence, Wilson, Jones, Pitts, Sewell, Chase, Washington trading up for Lance, Slater, Parsons, Surtain

Using that logic every WR will have have trouble with press. He consistently beat press at a high level against the best competition.
Have you actually watched him play against press? Or are you just saying this because of his weight?
I don’t think Smith will be WR2 if the Giants draft him; unless there’s a trade up. I think he has the highest ceiling of any skill player in the draft so I want him at 11, Waddle scares me.
Golladay being both a deep threat and a red zone threat is so damn important. Gotta hope he delivers on the contract the Giants gave him.
If no good trade down offers are available take the best OL or CB at #11 unless they really like Parsons or one of the Edge guys at #11. Go WR in round 2 or even round 3.

I'm oppo, take the great WR at #11 and OL at 42. But somewhere there will be an edge...
I think the Giants are waiting to see if a “blue chip” will be available to them, thus no trade down unless....
But if Smith is available I think they'd go for it. And I prefer him over Paye.
I hope you are right man. Would love to see him in a Giants uniform.
I definitely belive Waddle is the superior player and pick, for the record. And my guess is the NY Giants will wind up with neither.

The real question is why Smith over Waddle? Before his injury, Waddle was the man for Bama and Heisman favorite. Smith only became what he did after Waddle's injury. Good chance the Eagles take Waddle after us and get the better WR.
Smith out performed Waddle the last two games before Waddle’s injury.

I'm kind of torn about Smith. It's a deep draft for WR, ideally I'd like to trade down, get an Edge/OLB and get a WR in the 2nd.
But Smith sure did perform when Bama needed him. Seems like he averaged about 3 TDs a game after they lost Waddle, despite their opponents surely game planning to stop him.
Agreed on latter. Former - it really depends if somebody is ga-ga on him behind us and trades up. I'd take Smith there, but I'm kind of on the trade down bandwagon if he isn't. I don't like forcing an edge pick there if we can get same player or choice of players back at 15,16 or even as far down as 20-21, depending on haul in return.
If Eagles trade up for him, he's going to be wasted there. Eagles are heading into a period where i really doubt they'll be good for awhile given their disarray and roster depletion/cap and QB issues.

You hearing Paye too? I think the Vikes at #14 would be looking at him, that's the issue for trading down if they want Paye, imv. I think Ojulari would be a later round 1 contingency. Not heard about Phillips' medicals yet, he'd be the guy if the concussions somehow were deemed ok. Hear anything on him?

Yes, let's base a 1st round pick on 2 games. Waddle's overall numbers were better when he got hurt and he was getting more Heisman hype. Those are the facts.
The Giants might take him. Current discussions of Paye assume Surtain is off the board.
