Where do the Patriots factor in? Well, according to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, these two teams have already talked about a possible trade involving the No. 8 overall pick.
"As we noted in the Monday morning column, the Patriots have sniffed around on a trade up into the top 10, presumably for a quarterback—and I can say that if Fields is sitting there at No. 8, there are strong ties between New England and Carolina, and some groundwork has been done on what a deal might look like," Breer wrote in his latest 2021 NFL Mock Draft published Tuesday. |
Hello SF, you listening?
NGT: Patriots ... Trading Up - ( New Window )
Quote:
The more teams start trading up to get QB’s the better our outlook at 11. Carolina is one of those wildcard teams that could take anyone. If a QB obvious team moves into their spot it really helps us.
True, but I have this feeling they go OL and draft Slater if they stay put at #8.
I’m in the Smith/Waddle camp here for the first round. Assuming someone trades with Carolina for a QB here’s the outlook:
- 5 QB’s gone in the top 10
- Someone will take Pitts
- Someone will take Sewell
- Dallas is hinting at defense
So that would mean we are guaranteed one of the top three receivers to choose from at 11.

And then we pick Ojulari.
Sorry. Couldn't resist. I'm with you there. Either one of the 3 WRs or Parsons falls and I'm good with either.
Sewell is the only lineman worth that pick
Maybe they are and made they aren’t but DG doesn’t exactly instill confidence they are an active “player”. His name seems to be brought up in league circles mostly by critics of his questionable contracts, not trading down and old school approaches.
Hopefully we don’t get trumped on Thur by somebody making a deal that could have benefited the NY Giants...

As long as DG’s snack time and shuffleboard sessions aren’t interrupted we’ll be in the mix lol.
Mac Jones going at 3 to SF would be the first domino. That needs to happen.
After 5 QBs, I'm certain the next 3 players off the board will be Sewell, Pitts, and Chase, in no particular order.
And I believe Dallas will take Surtain or Horn.
That means the Giants would be guaranteed to be able to get one of the Bama receivers.
And that would disappoint me...
