What are your top 5 PF songs?

Is Division Bell an underrated album?

Thoughts on Waters? Gilmour?

If all 4 members of PF could reunite for 2 songs what would they be?

My answers:
1) Comfortably Numb
2) Wish you Were Here
3) High Hopes
4) Mother
5) Time

Division Bell is the album which got my into Floyd back in the 90s- my college roommate left it in the dorm one summer and I used to love walking on the beach listening to "Marooned". I think it's highly underrated. Love "Keep Talking" and "Lost for Words"

I think Waters was an ass but Gilmour probably could have been a little more forgiving especially later as Waters seemed more conciliatory. I think the band lost a little under Waters but Gilmour Mason and Wright carried it on very well.

I'd love to hear them all play Comfortably Numb and Run Like Hell.

Speaking of Andrew Lloyd Webber, one of the songs (It's a Miracle) has the following lyrics:

He wasn't the only one with a distaste for ALW. Here's Crowded House in Chocolate Cake:

Not everyone in New York would pay to see Andrew Lloyd Webber
May his trousers fall down as he bows to the queen and the crown
I don't know what tune that the orchestra played
But it went by me sickly and sentimental

and try to tackle Gilmour's work? I've made a lot of progress on the solo from Time and it's fun as hell to bust that out at loud volume, but his tone is just so damn elusive! How'd he get that in 1973?

I've been trying to master ...Crazy Diamond. He is a GOAT.
ALW sucks

His songs are just so incredibly awful, loud, oppressive, terrible - yuck.

Yeah, that's next on my list. I dabbled with it some time ago and found an awesome tone for Guitar Rig 5 that someone had shared. That's a great piece of software for shit like this.

I've dabbled a bit and we did Run for a few years in one of my first cover bands. But I never cover stuff exactly the same as the original... lol. I know he had a Duncan pickup in the black strat, and he used Dallas Arbiter Fuzz and a bunch of MXR Phasers. HiWatt heads for the wall and a leslie speaker cab for the crazier stuff.. lol. I think his tone is mostly in his hands though, he has a pretty specific style especially when it comes to leads.

Hard to top

Pulse itself is hard to top. It might be my favorite concert video of all time. The visuals and music are superb.
My 5 songs would be:
(1) Comfortably Numb
(2) Hey You
(3) Brain Damage
(4) Wish You Were Here
(5) High Hopes (they used to play the music video for High Hopes at my gym for time to time and I would always stop and stand there for 6-7 minutes and just enjoy it)
These 4 men created so much great music together. It's just a shame they wasted so much time being mad at each other.

What are your top 5 PF songs?
Echoes
Shine on you crazy diamond
Dark side of the moon (it’s essentially one long song)
Turning away
Wish you were here

Is Division Bell an underrated album?
Yes - an awesome album

Thoughts on Waters? Gilmour?
Waters is an egomaniac
Gilmour is one of the best guitarists of all time for his style alone

If all 4 members of PF could reunite for 2 songs what would they be?
Shine on you crazy diamond
Echoes
#1 Dark Side of the Moon

Echoes

I’m really surprised how popular Echoes is - I thought I was on e of the few to love that song.
Crazy!
I could discuss this band for hours.

I absolutely love Gilmour's last two albums. Love the work he did with Nash and Crosby. His concert at the Pompeii in 17 is must see bluray. Remember That Night at the Royal Albert Hall is also amazing. I recognize the brilliance of Rog, but I don't like the guy. That said, The Final Cut is a masterpiece regarding war and the time period in which it was written. And Pros and Cons is one of the greatest musical pieces I've ever heard. Still..I'm partial to Animals, Meddle, and Dark Side. I go see the Australian Pink Floyd Show, Brit Floyd, and The Machine any time I get the chance. There is nothing by these guys that I do not like, but I always come back to Gilmour.
Tough to pick...
Kanavis : 4/28/2021 7:48 pm : link
But here goes...

1. Time
2. Echos (pompeii version)
3. Dogs
4. Us and them
5. Shine on you crazy Diamond

Would also love to hear Fearless, and perhaps Arnold Layne or See Emily play though we would need Barret for the last two.

As the years go on I appreciate Wright more and more. Each member was essential. Shame it couldn't last....but meddle through the wall was one heck of a run. Favorite band ever.

Probably some very mainstream opinions but

1. Wish You Were Here
2. Time
3. Have a Cigar
4. Brain Damage
5. Goodbye Blue Sky

2 Songs: Time and Another Brick in the Wall (cheating because its 3 parts)
.
jrapps : 4/28/2021 8:34 pm : link
Echoes for me
Green is the Colour
kinard : 4/28/2021 8:52 pm : link
...
Forgot to add my top 5 (which is basically impossible)
djm : 4/28/2021 9:18 pm : link
And in no particular order:

Shine on you crazy diamond all parts (I’ll cheat and count this as one)
Dogs
In the flesh, the thin ice, another brick in the wall part 1 (counting it as one sorry) it’s basically one big song in my view with different parts and it’s perfect rock opera music.

I’ll add that I can’t choose just one from dark side since it’s the greatest album of all time and it just can’t be done. I choose the whole album.
That’s five I think
djm : 4/28/2021 9:20 pm : link
Lol
top 5?
Producer : 4/28/2021 9:25 pm : link

1. Comfortably Numb
2. Us and Them
3. Shine on You Crazy Diamond
4. Interstellar Overdrive
5, Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict

I was at a Disco Biscuits show at Hammerstein and they covered the first part of Echoes to close the first set. Then they started fogging the stage and peetering out of the song, entering the "whales part." The band snuck off stage for set break as the whales was intermission music over the PA. There soooooooooo many people freaking out because they ate acid and didnt know what was going on. I was laughing my ass off. Then 20 mins later, they snuck on stage again and resumed the song. It was fucking awesome.

But I can't think of another ranked song I'd replace with it.
